To Decorate Early? Or Not? Written for the Writer's Cramp prompt, 11/11/19
Deck The Halls

Let's decorate early,
bring some cheer,
chase off the blues
from us this year
I really hope

this is a joke;

a dig at me,

a friendly poke.

Not at all!
A bit of glitter
will warm our hearts
through time so bitter.
It's much to early,

near Halloween;

why do you want

a winter scene.

A bit of color,
a warming glow,
will cheer us
as I'm sure you know.
Call me Scrooge,

if you desire;

you want some heat

then light the fire.

It's not the same
as decorating;
why insist
on hesitating.
It's so commercial,

meant for stores

to entice the buyers

through their doors.

I disagree;
some Christmas cheer
could brighten up
the atmosphere.
A compromise -

wait for December

then make a dream-scene

that you'll remember.
