An eerie poem for Writer's Cramp
"Ten green bottles"
Charlie sang for a laugh.
The sun was going down
We needed somewhere fast.

Baby Tom was whimpering,
Mary nodded off,
Wayne was sat immobile,
Tom senior gave a cough.

The next thing I knew
I was flying through the air,
Dangling from my seat belt,
Water in my hair

We're filling up with water,
Have to get all out,
We scrambled from the vehicle
And then I heard a shout

"Mary didn't make it"
Then Wayne began to sing
"Nine green bottles,"
It was a funny thing

Because Wayne was always silent.
Chris tried to get up higher,
To find a mobile signal,
Then was sinking in the mire.

We just could not reach him,
He sank down without trace,
Then "eight green bottles"
Filled the eerie space.

Someone has to go for help,
Old Tom said "I'll go,"
"Seven green bottles,"
Who's next? We didn't know ...
