A recap of last night's Detroit/Toronto game.
|Toronto Maple Leaf's backup goalie, Michael Hutchinson, probably was relieved after last night's game against the Detroit Red Wings.
With the help from his teammates, Hutchinson finally recorded his first win of the season as Toronto defeated Detroit 4-1.
There was no scoring in the first period.
Zach Hyman scored the lone goal in the second period to put the Leafs ahead 1-0.
2:18 into the third period, Auston Matthews scored on the man advantage.
"I think our special teams have really sort of given us confidence," said Leaf's head coach, Sheldon Keefe at the post game press conference.
Keefe also credited the team's depth for their recent success.
Hyman scored his second goal of the game at 8:51.
At 13:39, Matthews scored again to put the Leafs ahead 4-0.
Unfortunately, Hutchinson was robbed of a shut out when Tyler Bertuzzi scored a power play goal at 18:16.
Both Hyman and Matthews had three points.
Toronto's Mitch Marner had two assists last night.
Toronto hosts the Carolina Hurricanes tomorrow afternoon.
