Bewitching Trickery
Intriguing smiling faces sit on porches
all around town in the Fall,
designed with subliminal pride and carved
as jack-o-lanterns so fine and bold.
They shine like lighthouse beacons
on a cold, dark night, with candle lit
eyes shining so brightly and flashing with delight.
Sparkling with elements of enchantment,
for believers, who dream of a mysterious,
haunting Halloween night. With hand carved faces,
by wild imaginations, they invite seekers into strange
places of trickery and deception. Like an oasis suddenly
appearing, smiling faces seemingly are there, with
flickering flames that leap up dancing with joy, filling
the dark with sparks that implore terrorizing jokes of deception.
The bewitching night proceeds with frightening
creatures making threatening decrees to claim souls,
by extreme degrees of morbid deeds.
The magic of Halloween sweeps by quickly, leaving
very little time to culminate the message that there
could be possible finality to many of those ghastly, ghoulish,
devilish deeds and thrills.
