We Don't Deserve Them
Your team was badly pinned down,
They selected you to take him out.
You surprised the enemy without a sound.
With night sight placed above your snout,
He went down screaming without a doubt.

Even shocked he got off a round,
But even wounded you did not fail,
You took his ass to the ground.
Missing a paw, you didn’t bail.
The soldiers saved would tell your tale.

With prosthesis now, you are attired,
Because of an enemy with a gun.
Enjoy it! You are respectfully retired,
Medals are earned, never won.
Rest easy, canine, your watch is done
