A couple goes skiing.
Sporting Disaster

Sam looked at Lila lovingly. She was biting her lip.

“Are you sure you’re okay?” he asked.

“Yes, I want to do this, so we will have something to do together now that we’re an exclusive couple."

Sam grinned.

“Okay then, push off!”

Sam was off with a wave. Lila followed. Before long, she was enjoying herself immensely. The cold wind in her face and snow billowing in the air around her, didn’t change that. She smiled widely.

She started to laugh as Sam showed up beside her. He shouted something, but all she heard was “Look!”

So Lila did, at least until she crashed into a snow-covered pine tree! Sam stopped beside her.

“Are you all right, love?” she heard.

“I don’t know, I think so! But I broke my ski!”

“At least it wasn’t your leg! I did tell you to watch out for the tree.”

Lila tried to stand.

“I might not have broken my leg, but my ankle really hurts!” she told Sam.

He helped her off with her ski, picked her up and let her lean on him as the pair of them and her skis struggled up to the lodge. After the resort’s doctor checked her out, he determined she’d broken her ankle and had her taken to the local hospital. When she was cleared to leave with a nice, pristine cast, Sam took her back to the lodge.

Lila saw Sam not long after, looking longingly at the slopes.

“Why don’t you go on another few runs before it gets dark?” she told him finally.

His face lit up with joy.

“Are you sure?” he asked.

She nodded.

“To tell you the truth, when we come to ski lodges from now on, après ski will be my first and last stop !
