Cherry blossom
a year
13 lines

Cherry blossom the poetic image of spring.
Hedgerows full of mayflowers, bees are on the wing.
Early birds are singing loud, and busy nest building.
Raising lots of young, a sight that is heartwarming.
Roll on summer, with halcyon days for lazing.
Yonder golden buttercups, nod under a sun blazing.
Bulging cornucopia of autumnal crops fruiting.
Longer nights colder days, this year is slowly aging.
Or is it the same always was, now and forever changing.
Shed leaves breaking down, with fungus slowly decaying.
Snows expected but doesn't come, to children, disappointing.
One more frost then snowdrops bloom, robin busy bug hunting.
Milder mornings longer days, the fruit trees once more blooming.
