Unwilling to succumb…

Disorientation among the familiar
crams panic up the esophagus,
skirting the heart as it
gnashes the mind.

Are their ears broken, or
is it my voice?

Getting lost in the fjords
when coming in for rest
makes the day
longer.

Metaphor or hyperbole?
Which do I use, and which is life?

...girded with intelligence to sponge
what is shown, anxiety
to keep close what isn’t...

What if...

Seven years from extinction,
or maybe now only six.
Twirly. Swirly.
A little bit girly.

It all disintegrates with the same embrace...

Please. Just let me play for a while more.
