A recap of yesterday's Oakland/Toronto Game Three
|The Toronto Blue Jays swept the Oakland Athletics in a crucial three game series, winning 8-0 yesterday.
Toronto's Bo Bichette went four for four at the plate, including, a RBI double in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Jay's Lourdes Gurriel Jr. has been hot lately. He hit a two run triple in the bottom of the first inning to put his team ahead 2-0.
At the top of the first, Randal Grichuk robbed Starling Marte of an extra base hit with a spectacular running catch.
Grichuk also hit a RBI single.
Toronto's catcher, Alejandro Kirk hit a three run homer in the bottom of the third inning.
Kirk had three hits yesterday and three RBIs.
Marcus Semien also had a home run in the bottom of the third for Toronto.
Jay's starting pitcher, Robbie Ray, was fantastic on the mound, yet, again.
Ray pitched 6.2 innings of 1 hit ball, allowed no earned runs and struck out 10 batters.
It was the fourth straight start that Ray has struck out 10 or more, breaking the franchise record held by Roger Clemons.
Ray now has 212 strikeouts this season.
"He's (Ray) is probably the best pitcher in baseball right now," said Jay's manager, Charlie Montoyo at the postgame press conference.
A's starting pitcher, Cole Irvin lasted just 2.1 innings, allowing eight hits, and seven earned runs.
The Athletics have lost 14 of their last 20 games.
