How will one review one's own life after it's over?
WHEN I AM DONE

When I am done,
my candle burned,
to whom will I make my report?
Of what I found
and what I learned--
of goals attained,
of falling short?

And effort?
Was it given true?
Could I so state with upturned eye?
Forgotten lessons--
lessons new--
Did I attempt an honest try?

And who will suffer?
Who will lose
if fear should reign within
my soul?
And who will kiss the tender bruise
should my desire
obstruct my goal?
