There but for the Grace of God

Traffic slows to just a crawl
One, as all.
Drivers strain to see the show.
What is it we hope to see?
Could it be
Glimpses at what Reapers sow?

There but for the grace of God!
is it odd
once the traffic moves again
soccer, doctors, groceries...
we unsee
fellow human's sudden end?

Life is short, but shorter still
people's will
to take this lesson for dear
"normal" back, we sing along
to the song
from the verse that brought us here.
