A quick conversation has disastrous results. |
| The watch said, “I’m sorry, I didn’t get that.” Felix glanced down at the annoying device and said, “No crap you didn’t get that. I didn’t say anything to you.” “Please repeat that.” “Screw you.” Felix tapped at the watch’s face. “Why are you even eavesdropping, you creepy Fembot?” “You are in danger.” The hairs rose on the back of his neck. “What did you say?” It repeated, “You are in danger.” His heart hammered. “What do you mean?” “I’m sorry, can you clarify that?” it asked and then said, “I found these results for how to die on accident.” Felix scanned the search links and felt like someone punched him in the gut. “Why are you sending me this?” “You are in danger.” He didn’t like this at all. He’d heard of watches and phones responding inappropriately to insults before but this was a threat. Feeling afraid to make any sudden movements, he stepped off the curb between the two parked cars. He peeked out between them to make sure the street was clear, just in case. Both ways were empty, he should be safe. Right as he moved, one of the car’s wheels squealed as the engine revved, and slammed into the other vehicle. Felix’s body crunched between the two. The young boy, who recently acquired her license, leaped out of the vehicle. “Oh my gawd, I’m so sorry! I meant to go in reverse.” His watch beeped and said, “Low heart rate detected. You are in danger.” As his upper half collapsed against the front hood, the watch beeped again and then silenced. |
