Sebastian seems ready to move on from Rachel. But will it be that simple?
This story is based on real-life events from a fellow writer on WDC, Windowlicker. All names and certain details have been changed for anonymity reasons, however, what happens is essentially the same was what happened in real life.

Chapter 5 - Matchsticks

It was startling how quickly how Sebastian's first year at the University of Vienna was racing by; he was into the Summer Semester with the Spring Holidays fast approaching. During this time, he'd not had any recent contact with Rachel, not since he had kicked her that day. It was the longest they'd ever gone without speaking or messaging. In fact, his attentions had shifted onto someone else.

Aleks had even teased him about this. "Dude, I can tell you've met someone else. Is it Anna?! Is it, Seb?!" Perhaps his friend was trying to take credit for introducing Sebastian to her those weeks ago. Sebastian didn't reply at first, but smiled inwardly. There had been zero chemistry with Anna, even though she was admittedly nice-looking.

"It's... Not as simple as that," Sebastian finished, feeling slightly smug that Aleks was clearly desperate to know. He didn't want it to be so obvious. It was all quite new and by telling anyone, even his friend, he felt it could ruin things. He didn't feel comfortable talking about his feelings anyway.

No. Sebastian kept his crush hidden, which left Aleks perplexed. It was new; it was different to Rachel, and it wasn't Anna.

Frieda.

Although he had noticed her before, it was after a lengthly conversation earlier that day in the kitchen, that he'd found himself becoming rather besotted with her. He'd met her before, including at the same party when he walked Anna home, but everything seemed to change during their encounter a few hours prior to Alek's questioning. Despite Frieda being a few years older than him, he found himself connecting with her, much more than he ever had with Rachel. It was a thrill just to be in her company.

"So, Sebastian, you seem to really be into Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, how long have you done it for?" She brushed her wavy, blonde hair out of her eyes and smiled at him.

Having never really gone into detail with this to Rachel, Sebastian was a little taken aback but found himself enjoying the attention. Frieda made the occasional flirty remark, like 'well that must explain your toned arms and chest!', which Sebastian blushed a little at, in a good way. She flirted with him some more, asking about how long he trained for, what it was about Jiu-Jitsu, and how the Brazilian version was different to the regular one. He felt confident to talk about this and found himself genuinely enjoying talking to her, more so than he ever had with Rachel. And those shorts she wore... they must have been the shortest possible ones he'd ever seen, and they complemented her curvy figure so, so well! While they chatted, he took in her natural beauty, her strong, muscular-looking legs but most of all, her feet.

During their chat, she had her perfect bare feet propped up on the bench at first, then onto the table. Being directly in front of him, on full display, he wasn't sure if she noticed his eyes wandering to them. The fact that those shorts were revealing most of her legs too made him even more in awe of her. She was chatting away to him, full of confidence and charisma. Effortlessly charming and funny, he couldn't help but bask in her attention. Frieda started telling him about what she thought of Vienna, places that she recommended were good to drink at (other than Das Kauzchen). True, Rachel was sociable and people seemed to like her, but it was different, knowing the anger lurking at the surface. He couldn't imagine the beautiful Frieda being angry; she seemed so cool and zen!

At one point, perhaps she did notice his eyes flickering over to her feet one too many times. Letting out a gentle giggle, she crossed and uncrossed them at the ankles, her shorts giving him a great view, making Sebastian's pants involuntarily twitch, not that she could notice that! Her soles were perfection...soft and slightly wrinkled as she flexed them in front of him, just right in size and he could only imagine what they smelled and tasted like. Unfortunately they were a little too far away to really take in their scent but that did not stop him imagining and wanting to!

"My feet aren't bothering you, I hope?" Frieda asked, a playful smile forming on their lips as she wiggled her toes "Some guys find feet really gross..."

"No, no... it's all good!" Sebastian tried to stay calm, even though his heart was starting to race. God her feet were so delicious-looking.

She giggled again , brushing another strand of hair out of her eyes as she fluttered her eyelashes. "Yeah I have had compliments before. You know some girls sell pictures of their feet online? That could be a good little money earner on the side, while I complete my degree." She sighed, lounging back in her chair, looking totally at ease.

Swallowing thickly, Sebastian smiled and was relieved that she seemed to find his comments funny. "Seriously, some guys would pay a lot... I'm sure..." He added quickly.

"Well, they'd be getting the best!" She beamed, slowly sliding one bare sole against the other foot's toes. It took an effort not to let out a whimper from how ridiculously hot this was. This was killing Sebastian... her feet were so divine, so sexy that he even crazily considered dropping to his knees and lavishing her thick, juicy soles with his kisses. He'd lick those feet clean and willingly pay to do so! Obviously he managed to control himself as he forced to stay focused on the conversation. Frieda continued to chuckle about how funny it was that feet could be used in such a potentially profitable way.

"Maybe a special offer... or you should charge more after getting a pedicure!" He stated, which caused her to giggle some more.

"Well, I did have one quite recently. You can never have enough, you know! Honestly, I don't know what the going rate is for a foot pic. €50 per picture...? That seems a bit steep but some guys would pay anything I guess..." She bit her lip in a really cute way and recrossed her feet at the ankles some more while Sebastian assured her she would be the boss and in control of this. They continued to chat about this, Sebastian feeling admittedly excited to be openly discussing this goddess's feet, while she seemed to find the idea of selling pictures of her feet genuinely entertaining. She even mentioned a friend she knew on OnlyFans, who made a decent side hustle, selling foot pics to guys! Mentally, he was taking pictures of her feet and admitted to himself that he would be willingly pay money to properly smell or taste her feet for real! It was getting a bit torturous for Sebastian and he was conflicted when she finally moved her feet off the table, giving him a friendly wave goodbye, leaving him to his thoughts. Not for long though...

"You really think she'd be interested in you?" Rachel's voice rang out as she appeared, walking into the kitchen, her voice dripping with disdain. "Admit it. You fancy her. You love her, don't you?"

It was the first time he'd seen her since the violent incident. Taking a breath, he felt justified that he owed nothing to her. He told her as much, telling her firmly that she could end this weird relationship they had, if that's what she wanted. Sebastian's heart was already swimming with Frieda, since their chat and seeing her feet... at that point he honestly didn't mind if Rachel broke things off for good. He admitted that he liked Frieda and just wanted to get to know her better, which was true and fair. Instead of being reasonable in return, she shouted him, telling him that he was a loser, not good enough for any woman and that he should be begging at her feet for her attention. Sebastian held strong while she stormed away. It was good in a way though - her latest outburst was just confirmation that he needed to be with anyone else, anyone other than Rachel!

So, spending time with Aleks after all this, not giving anything away felt right. It was the most at-ease he had felt for months. He smiled as Jessie came in to say hello, spaniel in tow. Maybe, giving it some time and a proper break away from Rachel, he and Frieda could have something like Aleks and Jessie did?

Days later, Sebastian felt his heart skip a beat about the prospect of spending time with Frieda again, on the day before St. Patrick's Day, which was originally just going to be the two of them, going out for a drink. However, Rachel soon caught wind of what was going on... Before he knew it, Rachel and Heather had insisted to come along and he knew he had no chance of stopping them. Explaining this to Frieda, she seemed unsure at first, but in the end accepted that it was going to be a group outing. A part of him felt buoyed that at least she wasn't too keen that the plan had changed - maybe she was even disappointed that it was no longer just the two of them? Meeting in the communal kitchen for pre-drinks, the atmosphere was strange. Rachel used any opportunity she had to belittle Sebastian, whilst Freida was being warm and friendly to everyone. Such a contrast between the two women! As usual, Heather was practically looking down at Sebastian, sneering at him and laughing whenever Rachel made a derisive comment about him, even when he showed them how to play Poker. Everyone was drinking apart from Frieda, kindly volunteering to be the designated driver that evening.

"Ha, you lose.. It looked like that 'Jack' wasn't enough, huh?" Rachel said gleefully as Sebastian lost one of the Poker hands, while Heather snorted with laughter, wiping a tear or two away. It was humiliating but Sebastian didn't want to explain the reference, merely shrugging at Frieda's quizzical look. Plus, he had won most times and it was only dumb luck that Rachel had got one over on him.

"Such a loser..." Heather said with disdain, looking down at her nose at him like he was a piece of dirt on her shoe, whilst tying her long blonde hair into a ponytail. She had beaten Sebastian in the last hand, out-bluffing him, which was frustrating considering he was the most experienced player there. "Some guys are just destined to lose, I guess!"

"Tell me about it," Rachel chuckled, adjusting her glasses. "Sebastian loses at everything! At poker, at relationships, at life... Plus, I'm way more flexible than him..." Her and Heather exchanged a high-five while Frieda didn't react much, but there was a possible look of curiosity in her bright, beautiful eyes.

Sebastian tried to brush it aside and get to chat with Frieda but his efforts were usually cut off by more mocking words from Rachel. He nervously adjusted the collar on the smart shirt he was wearing, wishing that he and Frieda could be left alone. She was looking so gorgeous that evening, wearing a backless dress and open-toed heels. He could just make out her toenails, a bright red colour that he would love to see more, close up. Sucking on her perfect toes...being at her bare feet.... he was focusing on trying to talk to her, managing to get a few words here and there but was getting increasingly frustrated when Rachel or Heather would openly mock him.

Finally, after a few pre-drinks, the group of four arrived to their venue. When exiting the car and walking ahead slightly of the others, Sebastian winced as he felt a sharp pain in his heels.

"That's right, take it like the dog you are..." Rachel hissed in his ear as she proceeded to kick him sharply several more times. Frieda and Heather were closing the car doors behind them and about to join the other two. "What's wrong, loser? Suddenly you don't like a bit of pain? You should be thanking me. You think Frieda's gonna do this for you, freak?"

That was it. Seeing red, Sebastian turned around and without thinking clearly, placed one hand firmly onto her chest and pushed her. Rachel gasped with surprise as she stumbled back, nearly knocking into the other two girls. Heather glared at him and attended to her friend while Frieda folded her arms and looked uncomfortable; it was obvious she didn't like what she saw.

"You piece of shit!" Rachel yelled at him, the wind still knocked out of her a little as she panted. "I should call for the police for that... that was assault!"

It was all too much. Perhaps worst of all was Frieda's disappointed expression as Sebastian threw his hands up in frustration, bailing on the three women. She had seen him push Rachel sure, but Rachel had been goading him all evening... plus all of the abuse - both verbal and physical in the months building up. He didn't want to be around anyone so instead of spending any more time with them, he headed to a different pub nearby, Flanagans. Ordering himself a beer, he tried his best to forget about the horrible incident. This was now a few times he had lost his temper and it was so clear to him now that he wanted nothing to do with Rachel. Frieda looked so let down... perhaps it was because he was leaving, rather than feeling upset with what he did? He was clinging onto that hope while he drank his second beer.

By the time he was onto his third, he felt his phone vibrate. Unknown Number - from experience it was best to ignore these. Probably some scam, he mused to himself. Plus, he was in no mood to deal with that sort of nonsense now. Shortly after, his phone vibrated again, this time a text message from Rachel...

It's the police. You need to answer the phone.

Her brief, blunt message sent shivers down the spine. He hadn't taken her threat to call them seriously... but he could not risk ignoring this. Processing the situation, whilst finishing his drink, Sebastian eventually decided to call the number back. On the phone, a curt female voice explained to him he was needed at the police station immediately. His heart in his mouth, he complied at once, hoping that he'd be able to explain what really happened in person. Innocent until proven guilty, and all that.

The officer, a short attractive woman with short hair explained the situation to him.

"Sebastian, Rachel is formerly pressing charges against you. This is on account of a series of physical incidents: kicking her on three separate occasions, pushing her - in front of two witnesses - as well as choking her. Rachel has photographic evidence of where you kicked her - three times in the thigh, which resulted in bruising," the officer finished, her face impassive.

"Choking...? I've never done that!" Sebastian felt his knuckles whiten as he clenched them. "That's just not true!" He felt flushed with anger, plus with the alcohol in his system.

"But you admit to the other accusations of physical assault?" The officer raised an eyebrow.

Sebastian was not going to lie. Even if he wanted to, he was not a good liar and in the past, even from a young age, he literally found it hard to specify anything other than the truth. Perhaps it was being so black-and-white, and not being to appreciate social nuances that made him less adept at this than most people. More importantly, he had never been in a situation like this, with an authority as serious as the actual police! Anyway, he admitted to the kicking and pushing - honesty was surely the best policy. If he was fair and truthful, they would see his side, his own account of Rachel's months of abuse, surely?! The last thing he needed as well was noticing he was a bit drunk, so he focused on hard on being as calm and clear as possible.

The officer fetched a colleague, a tough, tall guy with a twisted nose and malicious look about him. He questioned him, specifically about the choking, gently at first but the longer it went on, the less patient and impressed with him the officer was. The female officer was looking at Sebastian with pure disdain - much like Heather did. Like he was a violent animal that was unpleasant to deal with. However, Sebastian was not going to admit to the choking. It did NOT happen!

A whole blur of paperwork followed. Sebastian wrote down detailed accounts of everything. It was hard to be coherent in his descriptions as his head was a mess of frustration and panic, along with the beers he'd consumed. After each piece was handed in, there seemed to be more. Followed by more questions. Then an interrogation about some of his accounts with potential inconsistencies pointed out. It was gruelling and exhausting. Sebastian was considering his options - even though he had written detailed accounts of the physical abuse that she had carried out before anything he had done, it was deemed not relevant. More time wasted and no opportunity to express his point of view was crazy! Yet, it was clear that the officers were only focused on Rachel's accusations, and they did not seem to buy his claims that he had never choked her. Clearly, Rachel had painted him as a horrible, abusive boyfriend. No wonder the police were treating him with such hostility and contempt.

Finally, the female office summarised...

"Sebastian, you have provided no clear evidence that you did not choke the victim. Due to this, along with the other confirmed injuries you have caused her, the assault that was witnessed by two independent witnesses, we have no choice but to place a restraining order on you for two weeks. Against Rachel, as well as the student accommodation that she is still residing in. You will be required to keep a 100 foot distance. Is that clear?"

His world was crashing down around him. The idea that he actually had a restraining order placed against him... Rachel was that heartless and vindictive that she would make him go through all of this?! He wasn't sure what was worse - the fact that he was being admonished by the police or that he would technically be homeless for two weeks. It wasn't just as simple as popping back to his Mum's. Germany was some distance away. Worst of all was the idea that Frieda would testify against him. She was one of the 'independent witnesses' after all...

"Oh of course, so crystal clear and completely reasonable, of course..." Sebastian stated dryly, shaking his head in disgust with how this unfolding. The officers' faces were literally curled into disgusted expressions at him. They really must have thought he was a real piece of shit!

Sitting in a room on his own, Sebastian tried to imagine he was listening to Aphex Twin, clearing his head so he could contemplate the situation. He felt sick to the stomach, picturing Frieda's gorgeous face looking at him with disappointment, no worse, disgust. She must have believed Rachel to think that he was a felon, an abuser. Time seemed to stand still as the events kept going over in his mind... what if he had told Aleks about Rachel's abuse... back in January? What if he had kept some sort of record or had evidence? He suddenly sat up straight when he could see through the window none other than Rachel.

She didn't even see him as she entered the room next door. Trying his best to listen in to what she was discussing with the police, the same officers who had interrogated him, he suddenly felt a spring of hope. Maybe she had changed her mind... maybe she had come to the station to drop the charges, explain that he was her boyfriend and cared about him, really. Perhaps this was just a test - a test to see how far he was willing to go for her, to prove that she still held dominance over him, despite the recent infatuation with Frieda. He almost started to go over what he would say to her... would he forgive her? Would he beg for her to sit on his face again and jerk him off, all forgiven on both sides?

The sound of laughter began to come through the wall... Sebastian frowned. Could this be a good thing...? Were things resolving in a light-hearted way, like it was all a misunderstanding, or was this a sign for the worse...?
