Stronger every day

WAR WITHIN

He watches the daily news,
Can’t seem to tear himself away
His mind reliving memories,
More of them each day

He’s been in a foreign land,
Fought on a far distant shore
Prayed it’d make a difference,
That there could be an end to war

He goes to bed late each night,
But still can’t seem to sleep
Fighting a war of his own with the past,
While a pleasanter time he would keep

Knowing the shadow once more has fallen,
Over this land he loves,
He’s looking through clouds of darkness,
And praying for help from above

For only the Lord can change things,
With the sweep of a mighty hand,
And return a peaceful sunshine,
To spread throughout the land
