Denise has only one plan for her day. 300 words |
Cozy And Warm “What’s your plan for today?” Carl asked his wife Denise. “Nothing special, did you want me to do something for you?” “No, I’ll see you at 4:30,” he said as he kissed her warmly. After she waved him on his way, she shivered. “I can’t believe how cold I feel!” Going to the linen cabinet, she took out her favorite blanket. Popping it into the dryer, she warmed it, while she made coffee. Adding a generous amount of milk and just a touch of sweetener, Denise got her now toasty blanket out of the dryer and headed to the big, overstuffed armchair that used to belong to her Great-Aunt Mar. She sighed as she wrapped herself snugly int the blanket and began to sip her coffee. “Hello Sadie!” she said with a smile as her dog cuddled next to her. Within minutes, they were joined by Tidbit and Boots the cats of the family. Denise soon drifted off to sleep, bracketed by pets and warmth. A hand shook her awake. “Don’t you all look cozy,” Carl’s voice said. “Care to join us?” his wife said sleepily. “I don’t think there’s room unless you move to the couch.” Denise did and the pets followed her. Carl managed to squeeze in beside her before the animals went into sprawl mode. “How was your day?” She was answered by a soft chorus of snores from her husband and the pets. Unfortunately, she was wide awake and considering dinner. Knowing getting out of the pile would wake everyone else up, she resigned herself to staying put. Gradually, she got drowsy again and soon joined the rest of the family in sleep. By the time everyone woke up again, they were all voracious. Carl called for pizza while Denise fed the pets. |
