Tavari gets settled in

Thornday, the 4th of Sapthaw

It has been hectic these last two days!
I really did mean to write in here, but I had gotten lost for a whole day and then I spent some time settling in.
When I arrived in Duskhollow the human driving the wagon pointed me in the direction of The Luminous Thread.
I started walking in that direction, but I bumped into a dragonborn. He was huge!
His scales were the size of my hand, and he did not smell all that great.
The dragonborn did not appreciate me bumping into him and I did try to apologize but he wanted to fight me!
I said, "No thank you sir!" and took off running down an alley.
At first, he was on my heels, but I noticed a hole in the wall and darted through it.
That oversized lizard couldn't follow me through the hole, so I got away without a scratch!
The bad news is that I got completely turned around.
On the other side of the hole in the wall was depressing. Everything was in shambles and the pathways were all muddy.
I seen all kinds of people though, but they looked so sad.
I found out later that this place was Duskhollow Slums and was warned not to enter there again.
I wondered around there until nightfall when I finally seen a pathway that led back to the main part of town.
As I was walking, I noticed a winding path and decided to go down it.
The path was lined with ash trees and pale mushrooms and led to a building that glowed a faint silver-blue with a bioluminescent lichen that climbed up the stone walls.
A sign was hanging down near the door that read 'The Mooncup Inn'.
It was starting to get dark and cold, so I walked through the door and was hit with the warmth of a fire from a round hearth made of smooth river stones.
It was so beautiful inside with wooden beams carved with what looked like old Elven and druidic glyphs.
Hanging from the beams were these glass terrariums full of glowing mushrooms and tiny floating lights that lit up the whole inn.
The tables were carved from reclaimed forest wood, slightly uneven and covered in mossy runners and soft cloths.
I was so enchanted with the way it looked inside that I was just standing there with the door open.
The innkeeper snapped me back to reality when she shouted, "We don't want to heat all of Thornvale shut the door!"
She wore a star-stitched shawl and kept a mushroom-pipe tucked behind her ear. She was a halfing and appeared to be quite old.
Her name was Merryn Coppergleam, and she was the nicest and only halfing I have ever met!
I was so glad that I met her because she was about the same height as me and everyone else was so big.
She made me this ale that she called the Mooncup Ale, and it glowed! I didn't think it was safe to drink but I was assured by the other patrons that it was delicious and to give it a go.
I hate to admit it, but I may have gotten a bit drunk drinking all that ale! Lucky Merryn is so nice because once she heard my predicament, she put me in a nice room so I could sleep it off.
The next day Merryn walked with me all the way to the Luminescent Thread so I wouldn't get lost again.
When we reached the building I was in awe with it. It was tucked in next to other stone buildings and the sign was a silver spool unraveling into a strand of light that glowed faintly even in the daylight.
The door is arched and inscribed with spiraling glyphs and every time I looked back at the building the bricks seemed to look slightly different.
Merryn invited me back to the inn whenever I wanted to have an ale with her then she took off. I am so glad I met her!
Inside the shop the smell of incense clung to the air, the walls were lined with tall glass cases with different potions inside.
Some cases had caged wisps, scrolls that whispered to me when I walked by them, and animated runes.
I walked up to this table that looked peculiar, it had enchanted needless that sew themselves, spell-threaded fabrics that shimmer with elemental enchantments, and when I reached the other side of the table where there were wands, they began humming very loud.
I walked closer and everything around me started to shake and that was when Quentha appeared and waved her hand then the humming stopped.
All that Qunetha said was "How curious" before she started going over rules and schedules.
I hope that I remember everything that she said because she seems to be very strict.
When I told her about the slums her aura got dark, and her voice sounded demonic when she shouted, "Never go there again!"
I hope I never make her mad either! I do not want to imagine what she could do to me.
My room is really nice though and she had it fully furnished for me in my favorite color.
I'm not sure if she talked to my mom about me or if she somehow just knows what I like because I didn't tell her about my likes and dislikes, but she knows them.
Tomorrow, I begin my lessons, and I am excited to get started. Qunetha gave me a book to read too so I can get a bit of a head start before tomorrow.
