Find a Penny “Find a penny pick it up and all the day you’ll have good luck.” I wonder how old I was when someone stuck that in my head… I often find them too, and have good days afterwards, though I have pretty good days anyway. I found one today. I was walking my dog, Oscar. He suddenly stopped. I looked down to see why. We were at the local cemetery. We don’t walk through graves! There are woods in the back that haven’t been needed yet. While it’s still woods, in a cemetery, over the years paths have formed, and we are allowed to walk them. It’s especially nice for older people, or people walking energetic dogs. I’m both. I let Oscar choose which path. There are four, they all run into one another at the back of the property. Consequently, whichever he chooses, we end up back where we started, and the dog is happy! I’ve been walking Oscar here for almost three years. I’ve never found a coin before! As I dropped it into my left pocket (don’t ask me, it’s required…) Oscar stopped walking. “Come on!” I said, trying to get the walk over as quickly as possible. He just stood there looking at me. Unusual. I tried walking, pulling him but he literally dug in his heels! Then he came up to me and did a little dance, pawing my left pocket! I pulled out the penny. “Fine! You found it, you get the wish!” and I swear, he twirled! Also, that very night I accidently knocked my dinner plate off the edge of the table, and Oscar got my hamburger! Try to tell me it’s silly… He actually found the penny, it went into his owner’s left pocket, and he apparently got his wish! Go figure! |
