A young girl gets early lessons in true love

Elizabeth had never heard Grand and Gram fight until that night. It scared her; her parents shouted like that, and God had taken them away.

She laid down, trembling. Gram and Grand were her rock; if they didn't love each other, like Mummadaddy...! She fell asleep to the sound of their muffled arguing.

Next morning, she was dumbfounded when she reached the kitchen doorway.

Grand was sitting in his chair; Gram sat across from him, smiling. Their hands were entwined lovingly.

Elizabeth learned the fragility of love from her parents; only now was she learning the deep strength of it.
