Steve needs to get more sleep. 300 words Flash entry

So Late

“Steve, get up!” his mom yelled from the bottom of the stairs.
Steve groaned and turned over.
Suddenly, he felt his blanket being pulled off him. He blearily tried to check the time.
“Don’t bother looking, you’re nearly late!” said his mother’s voice from above him.
He dragged himself up and headed for the bathroom. He jumped into a cold shower. Wetting his hair, he combed through it at the mirror over the sink. Steve examined his teeth and decided he was hungry, so he skipped brushing them.
“Come on, come on! Your breakfast is on the table; you may have to eat it in the car since it looks like I’ll have to give you a ride to school again,” his mom said with exasperation as she handed him his clothes.
When she started helping him get dressed, he resisted.
“I can do it, Mom! I’m not two anymore!”
“Well, do it faster, I’m going down to start the car. Don’t forget your backpack!”
When she left, he hurried into his clothes, ran downstairs and grabbed his backpack and his phone. He raced out the front door locking it behind him. Steve jumped into the idling car and buckled up as his mother began driving.
“You’re really going to have to do something about going to bed earlier,” his mother said.
“Yeah, yeah, I know. I’m fourteen I’m going to have to take more responsibility for getting to school on time,” Steve mumbled.
“If you want, I can help you,” his mother suggested.
“If I do it myself, I’m more likely to remember to do it.”
His mother nodded, pleased at his thinking. Steve began to type in his phone.
“Good news, I have a plan. It should work. Although I may have to tweak it some."
