My name is Jiselle and I live in Tucson, Arizona. Today I'm gonna share about something troubling that happened several months ago when I was on vacation in Malibu.
Back in April 2024, I got a job at CostCo and I was around 22. My boss was this nice lady named Kathlein. She was 27 years old and she had short, bleached hair. Kathlein was really nice. And since we were around the same age, we became good friends. We weren't besties or anything, but we were good friends. I loved my job because I would always hang out with Kathlein during my lunch break, and all my co-workers were really friendly. Even though the job didn't pay as good as other jobs, I planned on keeping the job for the rest of my life since I had so many good friends there. Also, my husband Jonathan was a psychiatrist, so I could be a stay-at-home mom, and we would still be able to pay the bills.
I had used my vacation time to go to Malibu with Kathlein, Jonathan, and Kathlein's boyfriend Sam. We were all planning on celebrating my one-year anniversary at the job.
During our first night in Vegas, all four of us watched a crime documentary about a girl named Hailey. She was driving in Fresno, California and she got in a car accident and didn't survive. A driver who was high on marijuana and hit the girls car.
The next morning, Kathlein had to run to the grocery store. "Oh crap, I forgot my Wegovy pills at home!" she said. Kathlein has type 2 diabetes, so she takes a weight loss pill called Wegovy every morning.
"I'm gonna run to Walgreens to get my pills, I'll be right back!" Kathlein said.
She grabbed her purse, and put on her Nike shoes, and rushed out the door. "Love you, be careful!" Sam said.
"Love you too, I'll be back in 15 or 20 minutes."

Kathlein had left around 9:15 am and when I looked at the clock, it said it was 9:45. We were all wondering where Kathlein was, since the Walgreens she went to was only 10 minutes away from our hotel. By the time 10:00 rolled around, we were all concerned. I tried to call her and it went straight to voicemail. Sam tried to text her. As soon as he sent the text, the text bubble turned green. That means Kathlein's phone didn't even have service. We all became very worried, because she could've gotten stranded or kidnapped. We were about to go outside to try and see if she was around. but when we opened the door, we saw two police officers standing at our door, who were about to give us some very bad news.
