Purpose

“Did you read that article about Green Street?”

“Read it where?”

“In the Franklin column in the newspaper, of course...”

“You get the newspaper?”

“You don’t?”

“I haven’t read a newspaper since I was in my twenties.”

“So, where do you get your information?”

“TV, online, sometimes I listen on the radio on my way to work… I honestly didn’t think they even made newspapers anymore. What’s happening about Green Street?

“You can hear the news on the radio?”

“Yes! Even local news, though I don’t think they talk about local streets much… too remote.

“Well uptown is gonna be a lot more remote, they’re closing Green Street.”

“You’re kidding, how are we supposed to get to town if they close Green?”

“I guess, the bridge…”

“That will take me another fifteen, twenty minutes to get to work for people in this side! And then back home too! Why, haven’t we heard about it before?”

‘They’ve been writing about it in the newspaper for weeks…”

“I never heard a word!”

“Maybe its because you don’t read the newspaper?”

“Or maybe it’s because our town doesn’t seem big enough to matter to the bigger shots…”

“You gonna fix that?”

“I’m going to the Town Hall right now, and I am going to fix this…”

Guess who became Mayor of Franklin the very next year. And add, started a Franklin Newspaper for all his residents.
