“There’s more to the story…” Dad said.

“I know,” Tim said, “The dog finds a treasure, brings it to the farmer and the farmer gets to keep his farm…”

“Oh… we read it before?”

“A zillion times! Do you want me to read it to you?”

“You can’t read yet…”

“But I heard it so many times! The dog finds the treasure digging in the vegetable garden. Farmer Al scolds him for digging in the vegetable garden, but he digs up a package of money. And they all live happily ever after. Between you and Mom and Aunt Sharon, I’ve heard it a bazillion times!”

“But you like bedtime stories.”

“Yes, but I haven’t heard a new story since last Christmas when I got new books from Santa!”

“Oh, well, yes, we probably could use a few new books…”

“Dad!” Tim said, “did you ever hear about something called a liliberry? Dennis says you can go there and bring their books home to read, and then take them back and get even more books!”

“Ah, yes Tim, I do believe I have heard of a place called the ‘Library’… I even think I know where it is…”

“Can we go? Please, can we go! We’ve read all my books a zillion times. Can we go?”

“I think I can arrange that. Let’s try it out on Saturday.”

“Yippee!” Tim yelled! “Tomorrow is Saturday! I’ll go to sleep right now!”

When Dad got downstairs, he told Mom that he was going to take Tim to the library tomorrow. Mom was stunned! “I’ve been trying to get you to take him forever! What finally changed your mind?”

“I think the lady that yelled at me might not work there anymore…”

Mom laughed… “Likely, you were four when that happened.”

Even Dad laughed.
