The Garden Plan

“Angela, why are you carrying your doll?”

“It’s a doll Daddy, she can’t walk by herself…”

“I meant why aren’t you picking up the toys in the living room?”

“I’m tired of blocks. I wanted to do something with Baby Doll now.”

“But I asked you to help me clean the house before Mom gets home…”

“I did too! I put the towel right back on the rack before I came out of the bathroom! And now I’m going to watch TV with Baby.”

“Angela, I asked you to help me. Stick to the plan!”

“Really! Can I see it? Is it in the house or outside?”

“Is what in the house or outside?”

“The stick!”

“What stick?”

“The one that has the plan…”

“No, no. There is no stick. I meant you need to do what we planned before Mom gets home.”

“We planned something?”

“Yes, remember when I talked to you about doing some stuff?”

“Yes…! Do you mean when we talked about making a garden? Where are we going to make the garden? Did you know you can eat things right outside in a garden! Jenny showed me the ones! But you can’t eat them all you know. Some of them are yukky until you cook them! We’re going to have a garden now! Mom will be so happy!”

“Honey, I meant… we need to clean up your toys before we start something new… get them back into your room...”

“And then we will start the garden?”

“No Angela. You can’t just go out and dig a garden. Maybe we could start by drawing some pictures of what a garden should look like and where we have room to build it…”

“OK! I’ll go get my crayons!”

Dad seriously had to sit down for a few minutes…
