Three undead join trick or treating because of a candy craving. 300-word flash |
Planning Gone Wrong “Stick to the plan,” mumbled Rotzy. His two friends, Putrid and Oozy would have nodded agreement but it was too risky. It was Halloween night and these three young creatures craved candy. So, they began to follow trick-or-treaters to houses. When they said the magic words, the three creatures simply held out their own sacks. “I knew this would work,” Putrid garbled. Rotzy and Oozy looked at each other. They knew it was only one house. To be a real plan it had to last a lot longer. Oozy was already having problems with a single distraction. His craving for candy was warring with a greater desire. He kept eyeing the heads of everyone he stood beside. “Take it easy, Oozy! It’s the spooky season and we’re here for candy and only candy,” Rotzy reminded him with a grunt. They continued to repeat their maneuver at house after house. Oozy began drooling. Putrid and Rotzy ignored him until their bags were full. They reluctantly moved away when that happened. They had to literally drag Oozy away and he left a trail of drool behind him. “Now, we stop for a meal, then we can eat candy,” Rotzy said. They made their way to the graveyard. They dug up some lunch, although they all preferred fresh rather than embalmed. Once they had feasted on several brains, the trio got down to some serious candy eating. A scream rent the air. Three teens had come to the graveyard to scare themselves. They saw the zombies’ eating brains and freaked out. Oozy was all for chasing them for fresh brains, but Putrid and Rotzy stopped him. All three knew what would happen if they were caught killing humans for their brains. “It’s been an okay Halloween,” clacked Oozy sadly morose. |
