Biliousa's Halloween starts out badly even for a witch. 300-word flash

Halloween Starts Out Horrible and Gets Better

Biliousa, a hapless sorceress, tromped down the path, a broken broom in her hand.

“A bird! I can’t believe a feathered wrecking ball broke my broom I’ve had for at least bazillion years. On top of that, when I fell off, I lost a shoe! This walking business is so hard on my warty bunions!” She heard familiar cackling above her head and dived for the nearest bush.

“We should have seen Biliousa by now. Wonder what’s keeping her?” said one of the three witches flying overhead loudly.
“The poor old thing is losing it! She either arrives too early or too late. Either way, she misses all the fun,” remarked the witch in the middle.
“I, for one, won’t miss her! The Witches’ Halloween Spell-off is no place for such dithering,” the third and last witch added with spite in her voice.
When she was sure they were well out of sight, Biliousa jumped out of the bush and shook her fist at the sky.

“We’ll see about that; you sour old bats!” she muttered darkly. With a flick of her wand, she conjured up some lovely purple and black shoes, a new gown and hat to match.
“Now time to add some traction!” Biliousa thought. With a second flick, she conjured up a state-of-the-art vacuum.
Sitting on it elegantly side-saddle, Biliousa took to the air, cord dragging behind. In no time, she was at the Spell-off. Everyone so admired her clothes and transportation; the judges automatically gave her the gold cauldron prize for first place.

Her gracious acceptance speech was drowned out by the booing of the three witches who had maligned her earlier. Their poor spookmanship was quickly suppressed by Zombie security. After they were ousted, the party really started!
