My virus-ware saved the day..... |
| January 12, 2026 The Mackenzie Scott Tuttle Scam: By Zahava Zelasko, Norwalk, CT. Note: This article mentions internet scams and identity fraud and may be triggering. "The Mackenzie Scott Tuttle Scam". Is that even a thing? Or did I make that up? Am I the only one out there?? Today, I received an email saying that I won 1.5 million from Mackenzie Scott Tuttle as part of her charitable giving. At first, I was delighted to read that I had won some money. I quickly googled her name and saw that she is an actual person. She is the former wife of Jeff Bezos. Then I realized that it was scam. In truth, my gut from the start sensed it was a scam. How did I know that from the text of the email? Now, listen close and you will hear... There were spelling mistakes on the email. I was addressed as "Dear" and not "Zahava". Mackenzie Scott would have a secretary to communicate with me, surely. No one uses an email to inform someone that they won A LOT of money. According to google, Ms. Mackenzie Scott is a philanthropist who is donating a lot of money. The news is even talking about her anticipated charitable giving. So, it's no surprise that scams are circulating about her. Oh well, Mackenzie Scott didn't make me a millionaire. Damn! There is always tomorrow. It would be cool to meet her. I would like to meet the wife of Jeff Bezos and maybe read one of her books. As far as scams go, I was targeted because 1. I am a writer. 2. I am job searching online. 3. Mackenzie Scott is within my age demographic and someone who has similar interests to me, so the scam email was sent to me. 4. I was just using my Amazon app over the weekend 5. I am on my phone a lot. This was a very well-planned scam. Thanks to the virus ware on my phone, it put the email in Spam and even after I transferred the email to Primary, it got flagged as dangerous. Wait, .... one more time..., the virus ware put the email in its place. I like how that sounds. Good job virus ware! I do find these scam emails entertaining, and I am grateful that I am safe. Alls well and ends well. Have a Great and Safe week everyone! Happy New Year!
