Learning the most important lesson in life |
| She had spent her life waiting for a man Who could make her laugh. Not that crystalline superficial laugh That glides across the surface, But the deep satisfying type That brought joy to the soul And a certain feeling men could never understand. There was a man before, of course, She didn't know how to wait Or know that you could wait Or, more importantly, that you should wait For a man who could make you laugh Deep in your soul She had settled Not realizing that bad things can come to those who do not wait. The bad things didn't happen quickly. She could not remember when she had stopped laughing. Or had she ever laughed with him? Other than that crystalline superficial laugh. That she cried more often than not, Accepting that this was all there was for her. She had since moved on, shutting out others. She learned to make herself laugh, Satisfied that this was the way of life. Then one night, she allowed serendipity to work its magic. He slipped in through a window she did not realize was opened, Kept company with her many a night. She had spent her life waiting for a man to make her laugh. She did not realize that he would come to her this way. But it was good to laugh deep in her soul, In a way this man would never understand. But she did, And she loved him all the more for it. |
