Richard holds a B. A. and a J. D. He was commissioned USMC and Naval Aviator. He flew 115 combat missions in Vietnam. His awards and citations include the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was in private law practice, Deputy District Attorney, and County Court Magistrate for more than twelve years. He is a sculptor who writes poetry and short stories based on personal history and dreams.
