What is below the surface

The lights go out;
The fires explode.
Smoke covers the stage
And the costumes glow
Delusion

People pay vast amounts-
Of what do they give account?
Pulsing hearts strongly beat
The crowd sways upon its feet
Delusion.

Acrobatics and voices of charm
Choreographed beneath the stars
Mirrors crack and magicians mark
The real cohesion is the dark
Delusion
