The eyes are the window to the soul--and yours tell me what you cannot say.

Your eyes
Gazed into mine for the first time —
My spirit smiled.

Your eyes
Caught mine from across the room
And held on.

Your eyes
Met mine with awestruck wonder —
No words needed.

Your eyes
Captured my soul and then
You kissed me.

Your eyes
Sparkled when you held me,
Full of fire.

Your eyes
Turned sad when you spoke of her,
Your voice quieted.

Your eyes
Darkened when you said you'd try
And reconcile.

Your eyes
Showed what you couldn't say.
It broke me.

Your eyes
Will sparkle again one day,
I truly believe.

Your eyes —
God, let them smile for me once more
And me alone.
