Epigram Style Poem - 16 Lines

White Lace and Promises
(Or Skulls and Crossbones- depending on the point of view)

When first introduced to her family,
I should have seen the signs in front of me.
Would I run away lest be consumed.
Thought I cared? Go ahead and assume.

In-laws must feel the need to argue;
With unmatched IQs, which I likely doubt;
After they are gone. I'm ecstatic;
If Intelligence rained, they'd live in drought.

Dating also meant being with them;
I wasn't overly enthused. But I loved you.
Drove for hours only to see you.
During my three-day visit, I needed a brew.

Promises made were eternal;
Our futures are ahead of us, both were excited.
You wore white lace. I was nervous.
Eternity waits--your family: not invited.
