What is this cold wind in May?
Is it volcanic ash blocking the sun,
The earth’s axis bumped by an asteroid,
Some malfunction of my thermoregulation,
A big, strong fan?
Call it refreshing for a moment,
A conversation with a friend,
A good past memory
A cool touch of early spring
But the water is rising and there’s a sewer smell
Carried by the breeze
And I see the water lapping by the dry debris
As I walk under the bridge.
