When anxiety grips you and you must stay or go.

To be there
To get a look my way
To see you smile in recognition
Heart aches
For such a thing
To make you happy
To insert into the room
Just how much I adore you

But the lights
In this cavern
So bright and pale
The field so teeming with life
Ghosts of a day gone by
The mind screams
The pulse races
Sweat like a jungle rain

Pulled apart
As I'm torn in half
Between stay and go
Intestines spill out onto the ground
Guilt like a fog descends
The weight like a heavy blanket
Across my shoulders

Oh the shame
Slink back to my burrow

I always let them down
Curl into a ball
In the deepest, darkest corner
And pray
They will love you
Come the morning light
