Killing for peace is like loving out of spite

Everybody wants a pound of silver,
Nobody dares to waste a loaf of bread.
All the people hope the war is over;
Everybody thinks the King is dead .

But someone out there hears the voices calling.
Somebody knows the words that soothe our hearts.
A wild man knows the King is coming,
And he watches, waiting for the waves to part.

A precious few can say that they've stayed faithful;
Too many cling to love behind a gun,
Waging peace to love us all to death:
Betrayal of the King is thus begun.

Everybody martyrs love almighty,
Yet no one dares to hold it in their heart.
Our only hope: the King is truly coming
With Peace to tear these wasteful wars apart.
