She had wings somehow,
Perhaps from Red Bull
And a high pitched roar
Emanating from her 4-inch frame
Made the squirrels leap down from the feeder.
Her jaws were toothless
And the robins nibbled on, unconcerned.
“Teresa Rex,” I whispered, and she looked at me
As knowing as a raven or a parrot in a cage.
She took a bit of suet and some sugar water
Grooming her green scales.
She landed on my shoulder and breathed
A word in my ear, “asteroid,”
And I sipped some more on my own Red Bull
Dreaming of spaceships, voyages,
Blue lakes and hilarious survival
Giggle while you cry survival
Against the odds.
I kissed her head and called her
My emotional support dinosaur.
