A daydream ends with a reminder that she must wait to be with her love.

The sun's last light colors the sky pink and orange.
Tree frogs sing to introduce the owls' mournful song.
They cry out in longing as my heart does for you,
Aching for the day you hold me again.

Sometimes I lose my breath thinking of your touch,
Gasping as I come back to reality, my heart sinking,
For you're only in my daydreams for now,
And the ache grows deeper every day.

I dream of you beside me, holding me tightly,
Looking with love in my eyes and seeing mine,
Gently tracing my face with your fingers,
And lightly kissing my trembling lips.

Sweetly caressing my arms and back,
I kiss your cheeks and neck and chest.
Resting my head against your heart,
The world stops spinning for a while.

Listening to the heartbeat of my love
All is well and at peace in my spirit.
I feel your arms pull me close to you,
And I beg you to never let me go.

You stoke my hair so softly,
And tilt my head up to look at you.
I lose myself once again in your eyes
And see the love I've always prayed for.

You smile lovingly at me, stroking my face,
And you once again pull me toward you.
With an angel's lightness you kiss me,
Open and soft, lingering and long.

I wrap my arms around your body,
Breathing in deeply to remember your scent,
But breathe out to re-emerge into the reality.
To be in your arms again I must wait.
