Twitcheen loses a main ingredient. 300 words

And On The Way She Lost It

Twitcheen looked everywhere, scouring her drawers and niches.

“I can’t believe I don’t have any,” she muttered irritably.

Having turned six hundred and five, she felt she was entitled to all emotions she wanted to have. She checked her phases of the moon map and was relieved to see that tonight the lunar orb would be full, which was the only time the plant she needed, known as the loonacy lily, would bloom.

“A single night! Only I would use loonacy lily roots to make a recipe for the competition. What was I thinking?” Twitcheen asked herself.

She had entered the competition every year since attaining her sorcery majority. She had never made the top three, never won and definitely never gotten a medal from the Queen of All Witches!

“I’m determined that this is my year. Loonacy Lily Root Drop Soup is getting me gold this year!”

As the moon rose, Twitcheen began the search for the essential ingredient for her soup. They are few and far between, but she finally spotted one. She pulled it up, flower and all and placed it in her pocket.

Back at her hovel, she began to assemble the other ingredients. Placing them in her best cauldron, she reached in her pocket for the lily.

“Where is it? I lost it! Drat, I have a hole in my pocket again!”

She turned to go out again, but the moon had just set. She got ready to go to the contest, because she had already paid for her place and there were no refunds. By dusk the next day, she arrived and went to the venue. She explained her problem and was granted an audience seat. She didn’t stay long as humiliation was for others, not her.
