Poem based on my grandma. she loves flowers. |
GRANDMA’S GARDEN Grandma takes such great care of her garden, always taking care of her precious little plants. She waters them every day, always humming a happy tune while doing it. She carefully prunes the sick ones, doing the best she can to make them better. She makes sure to give equal attention to her dear flowers, no matter how pretty or ugly they are. She always picks up abandoned plants, comforting them as if they were humans too. “Don’t worry dear, grandma will take care of you.”, she says to the sick little plants she finds tossed around the town. She saves them, She heals them, She puts effort into making them better, no matter how difficult it seems. One day, I decided to ask: “Grandma, why do you put so much effort into ill plants? Why do you try to heal the almost dead ones? Wouldn’t it be better to purchase an already healthy and alive one?” She giggled and looked at me, and then finally answered: “The sick plants need love the most, The almost dead plants need something to live for, The abandoned plants just need a home. The garden is a safe space, a happy space, Where all these plants get what they most need.” Even with such obvious answers, I still had one question for her. “What do you get in return?” She smiled again, put a hand in my shoulder and spoke a final time: “I get to give love to the unloved. Now go inside, I need to finish watering my beatuiful new orchids.” |
