Chapter 1

After Summer at Oakwood High

The leaves were changing colors, painting the town of Oakwood in red, yellow and orange. It's a typical Monday morning at Oakwood high school buzzing in excitement as students chatted about their summer breaks. Lilian Christopher who was nicknamed Lily, a junior in class 8 - 2 was seen besides the school swimming pool alongside with her friends, she stood out among them, her smile and laughs drawing attention. She was known for her creativity and passion for art, often spending her lunch breaks and free periods in the school's art club. Just then Rachel who is the class president of class 8 - section 2 and also Lily best friend, started the conversation. "Hey Lily, we thought you weren't coming today", looking at the other student named; Xavier. "yeah, she never shows up on the first day of the semester", Xavier added; "well, I wasn't doing anything at home and i was literally bored", Lily said looking tired; "plus I miss you both", she added in an exciting tone.

On the other hand, Xavier Thompson who is a tall, athletic build and also a player in the school football club. He is one of the best Oakwood high have had in the past 4 years. He's a natural leader and is well liked by his peers and students. Despite his popularity; though not popular as the class and school idol, Wednesday Marcus, who is the best in the choreography club, she is respected and loved by her fans in the school and outside the school's premises. Xavier is a humble and kind soul who loves hanging out with Rachel and Lily, his younger sister is a freshman in Oakwood high and his mom, Mrs. Thompson is a teacher in senior classes. His friends often call him "mummy's boy" due to his close relationship with his mom. He is a busy student - athlete balancing schoolwork's with football practice and games.

The three students walked through the hallways, when they reach their class door post they were surprised to see the classroom filled with students from different class around their class idol. Wednesday didn't hesitate to text Rachel with her smartphone," please tell the non-classmates to leave the class". Rachel chuckled while reading the message then she ordered for the students to leave. As the non-classmates left, Wednesday quickly rushed to where Rachel was standing and said; "thanks". "Mmm, so bad that no one is noticing me", said Lily in an acting tone. Wednesday smiled and the three girls hugged together. "so, Lily how was your summer"? said Wednesday as they unhugged themselves. Lily replied, "the summer breaks was short, wasn't as long I'd expected", She took out a breath. "Secondly, my grannie was ill, the whole family was sick worried for her", Lily added; what's your own story? Pointing the question directly to Wednesday. The girls chuckled, "honestly speaking, it wasn't the best summer and I didn't get the chance to meet up with Audrey", said by Wednesday in a sad tone. Just then, Lily was shocked and asked curiously, who's Audrey? Rachel excitedly said "oh, it's her boy......", she was interrupted by Wednesday "shh....do not say a word", oops idol, I'm sorry; Lily said while smiling. Xavier snacked his lips and said "you girls are so weird", they all laughed quietly.

Lily and her best friend dropped their backpack besides their locker and sat on the chair while the class idol walked to the front row and sat on the seat at the of her locker. Beside her was her furious best friend, Lucy. Wednesday and Lucy had known each other from kindergarten and they were so close that people think that they are sisters. But lately, Lucy hasn't been in her best mood since the ending of the last academic session two years ago, she gets furious and range in anger whenever she sees Lily. Wednesday snapped her two right hand fingers in the air to get her attention, "what has gotten over you? Why do you always get angry whenever you see me talking to our friend, Lilian?". Lucy replied in an angry tone, "she isn't my friend neither are you supposed to be talking to her". The class idol was surprised and shocked at the same time, "what are you talking about, she has been our friend since kindergar...." Interrupted by Lucy, "Wednesday, what are you trying to say?". Wednesday sighed and continued, "all I'm trying to say is that you should sort whatever difference you've had with her", she took a deep breath and continued "Lucy, she isn't your nemesis". Lucy who could no longer control her anger stood up, hit her locker, looked at Lily a look of betrayal and left the classroom. The students were curious to know what happened or what has happened in the past between the three friends. Lily sitting on her seat felt really sad that made Rachel hold her hands saying "it's okay" repeatedly. Xavier was surprised to hear what his class idol had said, he was deep in his imaginations to find out what really conspired between the three girls before distracted by Gomez. At times he addresses Gomez as Godsent saying he is one of the cool boys Oakwood high gave him.

Few seconds later, ominous sound was heard from the speakers in the classroom; it was the voice of the principal, principal Addams. He was appointed principal of Oakwood high school a year ago due to the death of the formal principal, Janet Mitrovic, which was said to be a suicide. Rumors had it that she didn't commit suicide but was murdered. Principal Addams continued, "welcome back great mind students of Oakwood high to this year academic section! I'm sure we all had enough fun during the summer breaks". Classrooms started buzzling with noises "no", "it was terrible", "unbelievable summer breaks", "I was bored all throughout the summer"; students from different classrooms shouted. "a new academic session, a new change and you all should participate in any of the extra - curricular activities which would also help to improve your grades. We will also be having new students joining the school community and let's make them feel welcomed not uncomfortable. I urge you all to take your studies seriously and be of a good behavior as not to paint the school a bad color", the principal added. "okay principal Addams", the students said excitedly.
