Lois and Jack are tired of being subjected to thieves Daily Flash Contest 300 words

Porches and Pirates

“They did it again,” growled Jack.
“Who did what again,” wondered Lois, his wife.
“Those thieves took the package I got delivered last night,”
“Let’s check the ring cam and see if we can tell who’s doing it,” Jill suggested.
As they watched the footage, Lois could feel her anger rising.
“I’d know that fake blonde hair anywhere. It’s our back door neighbors! They sure have some nerve, but then we know that already from past experience.”
“I’m going straight over there and have it out with them,” Jack vowed.
“Hold on, not so fast, I have a better idea. I’ll bring it home tonight from work.”
“What? What? Jack asked. Lois whispered in his ear. A grin broke out all over his face.
“Perfect,” he breathed and then kissed his smart wife soundly.
True to her word, Lois brought home what they needed from the bank where she worked.
“My boss thought it was genius. I paid for them of course, but still,” Lois told him.
They packed some fabric pieces in plastic bags which they sealed in their heat sealer. Jack even made real looking labels on the computer. Once they were packaged, they put them in a box from a previous order and sealed them with the tape that company used.
“It’s gone! They took the bait,” Jack hooted as he danced Lois around the kitchen.
“I want to see the show!” she said as she switched on the ring cam footage. They both began laughing as the scene unfolded.
“We should call the cops; they’re certainly marked well enough.”
“We’ll spread the word around the neighborhood. Have everyone be aware that we have thieves and to look for people wearing masks and gloves in this heat. Somebody else will call them, I’m sure.”
