The Galactic Empire Found Us!

         One day, Joe Samuelson, the chief of staff for NASA, rushed into see Sam Johnson, the new head of NASA, with the
startling news that changed everything from that moment forward.

         “Boss, you have to see this. The Web telescope has definitely found evidence of an advanced alien civilization ten light-years from here in the Sirius star system, which is also the home world of the Vulcans from the Star Trek franchise. The Russians and Chinese want to be the first to contact them, perhaps to strike a separate deal or convince them that they are the leading countries of the earth, and bypass the US, the EU, and Japan. We can’t let them do that.”

         Sam called the White House and got an immediate appointment with President Al Wilson and his staff, who were dealing with the fact that China and Russia had not only beaten the U.S. back to the Moon but were building a lunar colony and making plans to go to Mars.
President Wilson asked Sam, “Well, how much time do we have if the aliens are hostile?”

         Sam responded, “We estimate ten to twenty years before they could respond. And in the meantime, we should be able to set up colonies on the Moon and Mars, and we should be able to forge an international agreement to work together to save humankind. But we must stop the Chinese and Russians from contacting them first, perhaps to strike a separate deal or undercut the US, EU, Japan and other countries. This is a moment when all countries must come together. Call Russia and China and go to the UN with them. It is out last chance.””

         The top leaders of the world decided to initiate a call to the aliens from NYC, and they would not make any separate calls.

         To the shock of the world leaders, who thought that it might take decades to get a response, the aliens responded within minutes and established a mechanism to initiate conversation. The aliens were able to translate human speech into their language, as they were much more technologically advanced than humans.

“Thank you for reaching out to us. We were going to just show up and take over your planet and add it to the galactic empire because, well, that is what we do. We have been looking at your planet for decades and even sent probes and a few spaceships. We concluded that your species might self-destruct any day, and it would be better to wait until then, but now that you have contacted us, well, it is too late.

         So, here’s the deal.

         Our invasion fleet will arrive in one month. Resistance is futile. We will occupy your major urban centers and make our colonial headquarters in Los Angeles, California. Those leaders who collaborate with us to facilitate our arrival and takeover will be rewarded and serve in senior positions. Anyone who resists will be forced to retire from public life. There are several problems we must solve, hopefully before we arrive, with your cooperation.

         First, there are too many humans on your planet. The optimal level of population is about 4 billion humans, and up to one billion people from our empire. We are the Khan and the leaders of the Galactic Empire. So, we need to reduce the number of humans on Earth. Some could be relocated, or we could come up with another way to reduce the overcrowding of your planet.. We can leave it up to you to decide this, or we can decide that for you. If we do it, we will start by focusing on those too old or feeble to work, drug addicts and other degenerates, prisoners, and religious and other potential dissidents. If that does not add up to 4 billion people, our AI overlord will assign by lottery those who should be relocated or otherwise dealt with.

         Second, everyone on your planet will have to learn Galactic standards, and all Earth languages will be made illegal. Our AI programs can translate, but at some point, within the first five years, all other languages must cease to be used.

         Third, your internet and social media platforms will be cleaned up and subversive material deleted. Most human books will be destroyed.

         Fourth, we will reorganize your local governments and control them.

         Fifth, new schools will teach all children under the age of 16 the Galactic language, culture, and useful skills. Authorities will take over all existing schools for this purpose.

         Six, galactic firms will take all businesses over.

         Our AI overlord program will install itself everywhere and monitor all humans to ensure compliance.

         Finally, although it will take a month for our invasion fleet to arrive, if you need to be persuaded of our power, we can demonstrate that anytime we want. It is in your best interest to cooperate peacefully and therefore survive, otherwise...
The leaders debated and decided that they had no choice but to cooperate.

         The deal was struck.

         The aliens and the surrender by the UN was all over the news. It did not go down well and soon a resistance movement emerged after the announcement of the aliens’ arrival, targeting the corrupt leaders who had sold out humanity. But that did not stop the aliens and their takeover of humanity, as they put it. The resistance vowed to keep fighting, but most people were just happy to be alive and have a job.
