What color is insanity to you?

Imagine waking up in a world of creatures that previously only occupied your dreams.
Awaking in a large purple whirl you had scribbled into your notebook in 3rd grade.
Back when you were certain nothing would come from it.
Imagine waking up and realizing you were never real.
Or maybe you’re simply not real now.
Maybe nothing is real; even the dark purple walls reaching miles above your head, holding you in a maze where images you could only have daydreamed are now chasing you, desperate to find an exit.
What would you do then?
Would you scream?
Or finally recognize that you’ve been here your whole life.
You just couldn’t see it over the monotonous dread of school work and middle school dramas.
You couldn’t see it through your rose colored lens of responsibility and meager,
everyday tasks.
Yes, you’ve been here your whole life. Slowly falling deeper into the insanity you’ll never find your way out of.
The insanity that remains fully encased in the shades of purple that have always upset you.
You know why it’s always been upsetting, don’t you?
It’s because this whole time, you knew it was the color of your sanity slipping out of your grasp.
You’ve been running from it all this time,
but now the creatures that have accompanied your dreams are creeping their way around your feet.
Can’t you see it? Oh, it’s alright. There’s no reason to be scared.
This place was made for you. Every dark corner and ounce of madness is altered and designed precisely for you.
Aren’t you grateful? It took a long time.
And we’re all so glad you’ve finally made it. We’ve been waiting for you.
