Change occurs when we least it expect it. I know for me seeing the world again through my children's lives helped me grow as I'm sure it did you. Thank you for sharing your personal journey.

It's no different than my four children, politics are better not mentioned.

We had a nuclear power plant in Maine, the alarms would go off and it felt like death every time it happened. My first husband worked there quite often as a machinist and there were too many incidences where he had absorbed to much radiation and would have to wear special suits and walk for hours to sweat out the excess. Sometimes it would take over a week that he and co-workers were kept in isolation rooms until they were safe. Nuclear power plants come with more risks than they tell people.
The one in Maine had to be closed and sealed because of the reactor cracking. So many families in that area had cancer afterwards, it's terrifying what lies ahead.

Maybe Australia is luckier than we are here in the USA. Mining and exporting uranium is something, but the danger of it when put to use is another. As you said, "I’ve found it’s best to not get into political discussions with anyone." Imagine me with two sons who are the exact opposites of each other in every sense of the word. I always walk on eggshells.

Though I hear there are amazing waterfalls in Australia.

I agree with SandraLynn Team Florent!

Niagara in the winter is spectacular. I went in February, we stayed at the Embassy Suites and our windows overlooked the falls. I saw it at night from the hotel and in the day did the stroll down to see it closer. The boat wasn't going when we were there. My husband wasn't thrilled about the temperatures but the sight was incredible. There's also a butterfly house not far from the falls that is so worth seeing. I couldn't believe how many butterflies surrounded us while we there.

I hope you find a way to get there, you won't be disappointed.

Bush walk

PROMPT July 10th

Go somewhere outside or where you can observe the happenings of the world beyond the walls of your home (looking out a window is fine). Spend at least five minutes watching and listening. What do you see, hear, and smell? Where does your mind wander when you sit quietly?

This is a lovely prompt, so easy to answer too. I do this every morning before breakfast. I go out into the Australian bush to clear my mind and walk my dog.
I’ll tell you what I saw this morning.
First the sun is just rising through the trees behind me and it makes the forest of eucalypts appear as if they are about to burst into flame. It takes my breath away and I feel as if I’m the only person alive who is watching these first few moments of this day. Moving on I see a pair of red breasted tiny birds quarrelling, maybe she’s not satisfied with the nesting material he brought?
The dog and I stop in our tracks as we hear the distinctive thump of a kangaroo nearby.
I find a rechargeable head torch today on the track. Someone on a mountain bike has lost it. I take it home and my husband finds a charger that fits it. He’s very happy. Oh well one man’s loss is another ones gain.

PROMPT July 9th

Write about the last time you did something nice for yourself.

Well 2020 was going to be the year I did lots of nice things for myself, but.....
We all know what happened and I’m sure I’m one of millions of people whose plans were thrown out of the window. So the opportunities to do anything nice were seriously curtailed.
However yesterday I went to the beautician, she has recently been allowed to open. Now I have perfectly groomed and tinted eyebrows again. So happy. 😍
