A place to write down my thoughts and experience while learning about life and writing.
I started writing in 2023.
As of the time of writing that would be 2 weeks ago.
But My journey started way earlier.

many years ago I started playing fantasy games. Especially JRPG's, and action adventures.
Those often have massive stories and I keep turning back to them.
I love the world building, the way things work like magic and skills.
Then came Anime and Manga. Those were an expansion on my view of Fantasy stories. In particular the Isekai Genre.
I love how creators can come up with stories of different worlds where a character has to start from scratch.
The biggest thing for me in those stories is when the main characters has no clue what is going on. He/She has to learn about the world together with you.

And so after years of reading, watching and playing, I started combining certain parts of different stories together in my head. I couldn't stop thinking about it when in the shower, before going to sleep and even while watching a movie.
So after many years of shyness and being pretty anxious, I finally started moving out of my comfertzone.

I do so much more now then before. Play music as a DJ in online streams, produce my own music, interact with many people and now I can add writing to it as well. Even though its an aside activity its still fun to write what comes up and maybe create a story that at least 1 person might enjoy :)

And why not write a bit about the troubles I go through, the things I learn, the people I meet and so on.
So yeah. welcome in this blog :)

Hello and welcome back :)
I know I said this morning that I was hoping to have something by the end of the week but it seems I was on a roll tonight *Cool*

So the new chapter is now live and you can read it here: "Invalid Entry

In my previous blog post I already explained that I had been thinking hard about how and where the story would be taking place and that I, with the help of some tools, created a map of the world the story will take place in.
You can see it by following the link in the previous blog entry.

For now I just want to focus on the new chapter.
About a week ago I got stuck a little bit. I just finished chapter 1 and was working on chapter 2.
That is when some ideas started floating around in my mind about the order in which I should be telling the reader what happened to the MC.
At first I just wanted to go through the life events from 0 to 100 but as I was writing the second chapter I thought it would be better to start with the same characters from the prologue.

For that reason I switched chapter 1 and 2 and I wanted to make chapter 2 something of a flashback.
That way it would be easier to understand and the way the flashback would be introduced would make it more attention grabbing as it would solve a mystery of how and why the MC was where he was.

Well.... Things got stuck again.
I started planning where the story would be going and found that my initial thoughts on trying to tell a story of a year in the early life of the MC would probably not really be interesting.
So I took down the 2 chapters completely and started thinking about what to do.

During showers, walking the dog, on the road to work and back, I started thinking about the story beats I had in mind and what would cause the MC to start moving. What makes him get on the road that would eventually start a domino effect.
Eventually I figured that there was only 1 solution to the this and that was to generate some kind of world map.

A world map would give me a better sense of where the MC would go to, how long a journey would take, what the geology would be.
My first thoughts about the motivation to move was to destroy the home where the MC lived.
But how would that happen? Why would that happen?
And if it was destroyed, why would they be on the move across the country? Couldn't they just go to the nearby town?

So my idea of their home being destroyed went to the whole region being wrapped in death and destruction.
But how would that happen? Do I need to go the cheezy way of a big magical explosion? Or shall I go with something more natural like a tornado or something.

When I eventually generated a world map I was happy with, it clicked.
I chose where the MC lived, where the nearby cities would be, give or take, and the path the MC would go too, to the point where the story now starts in chapter 1.

It's pretty amazing how a world map can give you a sense of location, and scale. It also gives you a sort of limitations of where you can make the people in the story go.
if you let someone turn right 4 times you end up in the same place. I want to keep that from happening as much as possible and I now have the tools to do it.

Currently I am using about 4 tools to generate things for my story.
ChatGPT, TheSaurus, Azgaar's Fantasy map, and Fantasy name Generator.
That all works pretty well together and they are very good tools :)

This was a , relatively, quick look into my thoughts for this chapter.
Much of what you will or have read was decided on the fly.
There are however some things like the Journal and the waterfall/lake that I already wanted to include but just needed to come up with a logical way and reason why things got them to the location and for the MC to write in a journal.

I hope you enjoy, and I know that I must have made a lot of rookie mistakes here.
But mostly I just tried to think as if I was writing my own story and try to write what I think would have happened.

I would love to hear your thoughts on the chapter and if you feel you want to review it, please do so :)
There is no way to improve better than by receiving feedback.

Just in case, You can read the new chapter here "Invalid Entry

Well hello there my loyal readers XD.

Got a little update regarding the story I'm writing here.

These last few weeks have been a learning curve for sure and personally have helped me progress towards the goal of being more... extroverted, so to speak.
There have been some things I have been doing like calling for a presentation of a new development environment that I set up for my colleagues at work. Joining a guild in in a game I like to play and in general be more open and quick to respond in certain situations.

Meanwhile I have been thinking about the the story and how it stands in my mind, on this site and how I want it to continue.
If you clicked on the book you might have spotted that a chapter is missing and another chapter has a question mark add.
This is because after the feedback and really planning the world I want to create, I decided I would tell certain character story parts in a different way that will make it more memorable in the way it is brought to your attention in the situation the MC finds himself in.

I hope that it will work and looking forward to the feedback on it but for now I am still writing the first parts of it so please be patient for the next chapter.

On a side note.
I have been writing some notes and backstories for the universe the story takes place in and the some of the characters that it will have in it.
There is also a complete world map generated that gives me a better understanding of where exactly things happen in the world.
You can find the basic world map here, for those interested.
WORLD MAP

For now I will just continue writing the start of the journey the MC will be departing on.
Hopefully I will have something by the end of the week ^_^

Anyways I wish you the best and see you in the next entry!

Hey guys,
Been a while since I wrote here.
Main reason being that I was busy with something else and I wanted to have a good thought about the story I'm writing.

Though I try not to pressure myself into constantly writing and coming up with the most amazing story ever created, I do have some bar I don't want to dive under. For me worldbuilding is pretty big. Character backgrounds are a big part of what makes a story relatable for me.
And one of the best things in story is when the reader or viewer is at the same level of world knowledge as the MC.

For me that is probably also the main reason why reincarnated in another world stories are so interesting to me.
You together with the MC have no clue about the world their in and together you star to learn about it.

One really good example is a game called Horizon Zero Dawn.
Its a game where the MC (Aloy) appears in this world and is raised by guy who because a sort of father to her.
She has no clue about the big bad world except her little corner of a small area of the far bigger world.
You start the game together with her not knowing anything and through her story you learn more and more about the world.

One of my biggest issues with certain stories is that the MC knows way more about the world then we readers/viewers do.
Because of that things need to be explained. This often makes the explanation really awkward and people are dumbed down just so the author can explain something.
This pulls me out of the story and that is pretty sad as some worlds are really interesting.
Using children or moments where another character really has no idea about something works pretty well but has to be believable to work.

Well anyway, that is basically the reason I haven't written down anything yet.
I'm struggling with how to tell the story.
At first my idea was to just write down sort of a life story of the MC. That would mean going from child to whenever the story ends.
But as I started thinking about it AND reading some really good feedback for people, I came to the conclusion that , IF I wanted to make it readable and interesting, I had to break up things I was going to explain early on.

So, while I have been quite for the last few days I have been trying to work out in my mind how I would believably explain certain aspects of the world and, for instance, the mechanics of magic. I don't want to just throw around flashbacks everywhere but also don't want everything to be explained while it isn't something that matters to the story (yet).
Like I said above, I want to explore the world together with the MC but starting slow and explaining everything at the start isn't really enticing is it?

So for that reason I have been trying to come up with a rough timeline of events.
With those events I can plan a route the MC follows from 1 arc to the next and try to fill in the blanks.
While doing that I want to think of moments that make for a logical moment to explain certain things and if those would be flashbacks or just explanations is to be seen.

If you have experience with this or any tips or tricks I could use to (not to complicated please) work a bit easier, that would be much appreciated.

Anyways, apart from the above I am also working on a solo Psy-Trance track that I want to make to broaden my perspective on music production. Maybe even combining elements later on when I produce my favorite style, Uplifting Trance.

And while I have some free time I also play Final Fantasy 14.
Where I also push my own limits of introvertness by talking to other people, helping random players I see being stuck.
Not something I would have done a year ago :)
So things are looking good.
Better yet, I have been feeling really good in general.

I have a bit to much weight on me and recently been trying to stop snacking throughout the day. Even started intermitted fasting.
Normally this would just be 8/16 (meaning an 8 hour window where I can eat and 16 where I can't touch any calorie) but when you are busy writing, gaming and producing this, for me, often moves to a 4/20 XD

Apart from what you might think about it, it's not so much a diet to me but more to stop me from snacking all day. And it is working.
everyday I feel less and less the urge to get something to snack on. Even better yet, I am a big chocolate fan and can eat a lot of that stuff.
But when I start at 1 piece I could hardly stop myself.
These days eating chocolate is still possible but I don't feel the urge to keep getting more and keep eating.

Big win for me ^_^

Anyways that's it for today.

Hope you guys are ready for summer, The temps are going up, more sunshine and more time outside in nature.

Have a good one and till next entry!

Hi,

So yesterday evening when walking my dogs I was thinking about the story I'm writing.
Something didn't feel right after I added the Chapter 2 draft. It felt as if the flow of the story was not clicking with me. The things that happen in it are fine but the way it is brought up is weird.

So after some thinking I came to the conclusion that I will be changing the progression a little bit.
Chapter 1 will become Chapter 2, for now.
Chapter 2 will become Chapter 1.

For those that have read it, I think you might understand what I am trying to do here.
For those that haven't and will read it, I hope it makes sense :)

The way you jump from 1 place to another didn't click for me and with the way the story would progress, a flashback of sorts would make way more sense. Because of this I might make some changes to what is now a flashback and might remove some stuff to make it shorter.

But as with all changes, I will write about it here when I do ^_^

For now, I have switched the 2 chapters and will be writing down, physically, a general timeline for chapter 1.
It will span a year in the life of the MC so I am looking at things that will happen in that time period.
The Work in Progress is a draft, as I said in my previous post, and it was for me to write down the first idea of how it would go.
Now it is time to put more ideas in and make it a nicely rounded year of life for the mc :)

On another note.
I also posted the link to my WDC profile on my Facebook page.
Nerve wrecking for nothing but still I did it!.
It's not like many of my Facebook contacts would really care about it XD

But for now I will just be happily writing on on my story.
No clue if anyone will eventually read the whole thing.
No clue if my writing will improve.
and No clue if the story in general will be any good at all.

But writing on, I will o/

Hey there,
Been a 2 days since chapter 1 of Celestial Downfall went up.

You can read it here:
"Invalid Entry

I am pretty happy with how it turned out and pretty excited and nervous to start on chapter 2.
It is here, that I have to make a decision about how the story really is going to start.
It's also the first time I will be diving into the lore of the world.

As I spoke about my shyness and anxiety before, you can imagine that what I wrote so far might seem like nothing compared to what is ahead of me.
I love world building. Especially the very deep ones where you see artists create full developed worlds with different races, cultures, languages, conflicts and environments.
The world, I believe, is often a character on its own and any good fantasy story must have a damn good main story for the world itself to be not so important.
The thing is, I have a good idea of where certain things I have in my mind are going to happen, How they will turn out and where people will be (give or take). But now that it comes it, I feel nervous about those ideas.

"What if my ideas are stupid? What if everything I came up with makes no sense at all."
"Will people still take me seriously here or will I never see any replies on my messages?"
"What about friends or family reading it.... will they start laughing?"

While writing this I realize the ridiculousness of those thoughts. To be perfectly honest, deep down I already knew that.
But for some reason I always feel like there is another me in my head taking the steering wheel whenever things get out of that comfi zone.
If you have seen the movie Inside out, you probably know what I am getting at.

Of course I do not intend to stop writing.
This is a project that for some reason became something I feel, could possibly make me grow on a personal level and help me in the future. Be more open to new things. Talk with random people more easily. Maybe I could even meet that one person to be with the rest of your life and DARE to talk to her.
So no matter what, I need to keep adding to the story.
Learn from people (even though I am still too nervous to ask for reviews for a story that has hardly started) and implementing the things I learn here on WDC or other places.

But for now it would be awesome if someone would read the first draft of chapter 2 and let me know what you think of it.
Doesn't have to be a review. Just your thoughts of where things go, how the world is build, the characters and how they behave.
As I said, it is still a draft and I will probably be expanding the things that happen and bring the world to life even more.

Hello guys,
I wanted to let you all know I just added Chapter 1 as it should have been added.
It was already up for about halfway but it wasn't finished and had to do a lot of thinking about where I wanted to take the first part of the story.

The prologue was easier to write then this one.
Or at least that's how it felt. I also tried to set up a less "cliché" sounding way to finish the chapter.
At least I think I didn't take the easy way out.

The first chapter didn't change much from the first part I already uploaded, just added sub-chapters and brought it to an end.
I added a little epilogue for the chapter but don't know if I should keep it in.
Should I let the readers imagination do the work or does it add the the weight of the moment? If you have an opinion on it, let me know.

Also, I got some mentions about the different writing voices.
I dove into it a little and it isn't really clear to me yet how I should interpret it. I did read that it is something you develop over time when writing and that sometimes the story can do the heavy lifting and you don't really need a certain voice at all.
So I will just keep writing and hearing your feedback. With that I will see what I can do and edit the chapters as I learn more.

For now, I hope you enjoy the first chapter and are looking forward to the next one.
I haven't started on it just yet but I already have been thinking about it.
It will also be the first time in this story I will really need to think about locations and the world in general. But I won't spoil to much.

-------------------------------------

The story so far has brought me some great responses and some amazing help by the community here.
Its weird how just a few people liking, or at the very least seeing the potential in the story, can change how openly I speak about it to others.
I'm still nervous when talking to friends about it, even though I also know they would be happy I'm doing stuff I like.
Just a bit anxious I guess.

I appreciate the amazing feedback and I'm learning more and more.
Even getting motivated to add more to my story.

The coming week I will be working on the second chapter and hope that I will be able to have something for you by the end.

PS.
I am still figuring out the site an its services.
I know I can request reviews but for some reason something is holding me back.
My first guess would be that I feel like if I would request a review form someone, I would be judged as writer, which I am not.
At least not professionally might never be. But I do like to write this story down and ...... well I'm more ore less just rambling on now.
But I guess most people will understand where I am coming from here.
I won't be the first and won't be the last with these weird thoughts XD

Anyways.
I'll just stop here right now and let you read my new chapter.
Enjoy and I'll see you again later.

What changed:

- Sub Chapters are added.
One of the criticisms I got were on the POV hopping. Some people found it the be confusing and got lost.
I can understand completely that that would be the case. Even though my initial idea was to confuse the reader, I didn't want to make the stop reading of course.
So I cut down the POV changes to 3 moments in the form of sub chapters.

- Location
When reading the prologue I never really felt completely ok with the location.
It felt to random and not real enough.
After receiving some good feedback regarding the description of the surroundings, I went to work and added more details on where the party is and how it looks.

- Actions
I added more detail in the way of what characters are doing as well. Like walking next to someone or looking up. Small details like that.
When reading the story myself I found I sometimes knew myself what was happening but noticed it was written down. So you readers would could have a difference depiction of what is happening then I intended.

- The story
I changed some things that happened before and put them in different light.
As an example, The first version made everybody stand with a hint of putting up a fire. The new version made sure the location was set up through the story with someone getting wood and placing stones to sit on. Making the environment feel more set before things happen.
this also gives more of a sense of location where everybody is at certain story beats as you now know who could reach 1 of the characters faster.

I also changed some dialog parts to be more realistic. Or at least it feels like that to me.
In the previous version 2 character suddenly got very emotional about a secret getting revealed. This felt off to me as there was nothing really happened to warrant this kind of reaction. So I softened the reaction to the situation while I changed the dialog to make it more relatable or believable.

That's it.
I tried to stay as close to the original story as possible but the added details and less POV hopping hopefully helps with the reading experience.

Ow and one more thing.
The POV hopping was something I had been thinking about ever since I was writing the first words.
This new version lets 2 POV's overlap a little.
As you start with 1 character you then hop back in time a small bit when jumping to the next POV in sub chapter 2.

I really hope you can let me know what you think about it now after the update.
Really curious to your thoughts and how it improved or if you read it for the first time what could be better.

Cheers guys and happy reading

I will first introduce myself a bit and if you want to know more on the story I am writing, you can scroll down a bit.

Introduction
--------------------------
Well well, here we are.
My first blog post here on the platform and to be fair it feels a bit weird.
It is like writing a publicly available dairy. (I never kept one so I have no clue XD)

So yeah I have been here on Writing.com for a little bit now and I am surprised with the warm welcome. As an introvert who is shy to boot, I didn't think I would be doing all this in the first place so place be patient with me if things sound or look a bit awkward.
I'm learning.

As the description of the blog said I had a bunch of anxiety but I was also very very shy and very very introverted.
To give an example of how shy I was. If you put me online in a place where nobody would know me and I would be behind a screen so nobody would see me either, I would still be afraid of speaking out.
The only thing going through my head would be "what if," followed by all the worst scenarios.

but recently life as put some open doors in front of me and like the saying goes "I can open the door, but you have to walk through it" is something very applicable to me atm.
Being a DJ would not really be the first thing you would think an introvert would do. Especially when he is very shy and anxious.
But I guy pushed through because I just wanted to play music, even if just in my bedroom to myself.

Back then (2013) I would stream online without talking in chat, without video cam, no talking through a mic.
But fast forward to now. I Stream with video on my and talk in the mic, Produce music and release it and the chances are high that I might be playing in a club and 2 festivals this year.
I am scared as all hell but I HAVE to do it, If I want to grow as a person and as a professional.

And if that wasn't making me anxious enough, my shyness always prevented me from really doing creative stuff in a public space.
If anyone would ask me to sing, write or act I would shut down right then and there.
And I still do to a large degree but I try to force myself out of that cage.
The fact that I am writing this right now is part of that whole experience and struggle to come out of my shell and let my creativity be free without worry of others opinions.

This will of course not only help in writing but also my music and personal life.

So to those who I already met and spoke with, Thank you for the warm welcome.

----------------------------

My new fantasy story
----------------------------

Now there is just one other thing I would like to write about here really quick.
This of course being the story I am writing.

The prologue and first chapter are out here

The story is about a guy who dies and for some reason is reincarnated in another world.
For those more versed in Anime and Manga know it is of course heavily insipred by Isekai, or in our words, a new world.

One part of the story is based on a manga called, and this is translated, "After transformation, Mine and Her wild fantasy".
This manga follows the protagonist that wakes up with 2 bodies (1 male and 1 female) and no memories on what happened to him.
At the start he moves both bodies a the same time as he learns to multitask and start conversations with, what amounts to, himself.
The story basically moves in the direction that an artifact is needed for him to get back his memories but his female body is "rescued" as people thought "she" was kidnapped by him.
They are far away from each other as she is taken to the capital and learns she can use magic while HE learns he can't use magic but anther form of power.
During this story the protagonist constantly switches between pov's to learn about the country, the people, the politics and a way to get his memories back.

I found this a very interesting plot point and was wondering, "What if I combine that with other stories?".
Like I said before I am very big on world building so in my story I will be touching not only how the main character is split in 2 bodies but also how the "other world" came to be, the dark sides of social classes, how magic works fundamentally instead of just saying "mana".
I have some dark passages in mind and brutal stuff that would, in my head make the world more grounded and relatable.

AND to add a small extra here. I don't want to go for all the classic and usual tropes. Of course there will be some but in general I don't want to go for all the things we see everywhere.
For those who know are fans of Isekai as well this "Truck-kun" might be something you will recognize and I will avoid it.... to a degree haha.

Anyways I think I wrote down everything I wanted for now.

I hope to learn a lot from the people here that are willing to sacrifice their time to give feedback.
And most of all eventually I hope you will enjoy the story I write :)

Have a great day and till next time.
