I figure I'll go with what works too, but I was having trouble with plot, in my opinion, and this book made sense as a way to work on my weakness(s). And that's all I was going to say until I read this: "His weaknesses to outlining are: 1. Stories aren't always believable, 2. Transitions between scenes can be weak, and 3. Climaxes can seem contrived." Which is odd, because I think all these are pitfalls of the pantser too and probably WWWWAAY more. Opinions... But I think my main point and take away, though I didn't really write it in my response, is that these VERY basic plot ideas make the fiction accessable to the reader. I'm not writing in a vaccum or I could do whatever I wanted. I need to figure out how to meet reader expectations while providing something new and fresh as well. People used to eat on a crust of bread on the table with their belt knife to cut their meat. It used to be more common to sit at table with a plate and knife, fork, and spoon, now people like me eat most out of folded paper or out of a box. Well, however, the food is made accessable I guess.
