Solution? Write! At the moment, you have a concept, a setting. So write it out. Let it come to you. Get involved in the details. I suspect - at least, what happens with me - that once you get that thing that NEEDS to get out, more ideas will flow. Your plot will reveal itself. The great thing about writing fiction is that it's a creative endeavor. It's art. And you can't always plan a creative process. You must just sit down and create Having said all that... I'm in the same boat. I have 34 chapters of a novel written, but I just don't know where the plot is, exactly. So I've not created anything new in months (well, last week I finally sat down and wrote what I think might be the ending scene...which, funny thing, has really inspired me to write more!). I'm working on editing the earlier chapters for things I didn't think of the first time, mainly pace, POV, and things that are related to the plot while taking out the inconsequential details and description that isn't really all that important. This is also helping me tremendously. I still don't know exactly how I'm getting from chapter 34 to the final (unnumbered) chapter, but I feel like I *almost* have an idea...like it's wiggling around in my brain and it will work its way out soon, probably when I'm in the middle of an all-day typing session Or maybe in the middle of the night when I will end up writing for hours on my iPhone, typing with my thumbs because I don't want to drag my behind out of my cozy bed. -- 1UppyEar ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** |
