Jack hears something crash in his driveway early one morning.
#2211200 by Jatog the Green

"Jack hears something crash in his driveway one morning."

I used to hear stuff crash in my driveway every night. I would usually just go out and secure the trash cans and run the coons out of them. One morning it was not a coon. It was a black bear. I called the police who came by and shot it. I ate bear the rest of the year and made a rug from the hide.

Created by Sharmelle's Expressions I apologize for the late prompt. I had an emergency with one of my guys in chapel last night and spent the night dealing with that. I did not get one sent. I just got started for the day. I'll send it now.

How might our speech be different if we considered that people are looking at us and making deductions about God from the way we speak?

The way we speak reflects God. All too often I hear Christians being called "hypocrites" because of the way they act and talk. I try to bridle my tongue so that I talk decently.

I screwed up the formatting of a research paper for graduate school. I called the experts at the writing lab and got yhe issue fixed.

Blog City image small "Prompt: The ACM Awards were on last night. What are your views on country music?"

I don't listen to country. It gives me a headache.

Prompt: How did you feel about Robin Williams?"

I think it's sad that he killed himself. His death shows us that just because somebody is funny does not necessarily mean they are not hiding a tremendous amount of pain. Suicide is a sad fact. If anybody is feeling suicidal please discuss it with somebody. You can do so confidentially at 1-800-273-8255. If you are a veteran press 1 at the prompt for special services. That number again is 1-800-273-TALK.

A signature for my blog Prompt: "What church day practices do you remember being important to your family when you were a child?"

My family did not attend church when I was a child. I mean, we did when I was too young to remember. Then my dad was arrested and convicted of a crime he did not commit. My mom did not take us to church after that. She was bitter at God.

I guess that depends on the mask. If it is a person being something they're not then you're right and masks can be dangerous.

Blog City image small "Prompt: What life lessons have books taught you?"

I have an academic associate degree and two bachelors degrees. I'm working on a master's degree. Apparently books have taught me something.

 It's So Easy  (18+)
It's so easy being in love with you.
#1579373 by Brandiwyn🎶

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCSzXvOoffs}

The song says "It's so easy to talk to you
It's so easy to share everything with you"

Besides a spouse, do you have anybody in your life who is easy to talk to? Tell us about them.

I do have somebody in my life who is easy to talk to. His name is Jesus Christ. He never judges me and He accepts me even when I am at my worst. He has seen me when I was a complete monster and He still loved me unconditionally. I know however that using God was not what this blog prompt meant. It was referring to a person with whom we can talk face to face and share our darkest secrets without being judged. I would have to say that person in my life is a priest I know. I am a confirmed Catholic though I do not practice Catholicism. I attend the Salvation Army for church services. However I still occasionally see my priest friend and have the heart to hearts with him. He considers it confession so he is never going to repeat a word of it. He is very loving and accepting. When I am feeling particularly bad about something I did and undoing the damage does not help, I go to him. He helps me reframe it so that I don't beat up on myself to badly. Thank goodness I don't do that often, maybe once a year. The rest of the time I talk to Jesus about it and the devil lets it drop. Satan is an accuser. He likes to make us feel guilty. When Jesus says I am whole I know I am whole. Once in a blue moon though it is nice to have a good friend to hear me out.

This image made by Sharmelle's Expressions. Jesus told Satan not to tempt God. How can we often find ourselves guilty of tempting God today?

This is actually a bit of a loaded prompt. I say that because it applies to many today and COVID-19. My brother is one of those "many". He is always condemning me and calling me a "sheep" because I follow the rules and wear a mask to prevent the spread or slow the spread of COVID-19. He says that he has the blood of Jesus and faith, and that is all the protection he needs. I have tried reasoning with him and telling him that I wear the mask not to prevent myself from contracting COVID-19, but rather to prevent myself from spreading it and other infections to others. He does not understand that one may never show symptoms of being contagious and still spread the illness to others. I don't want to be the cause of some child or somebody with a compromised immune system dying. I tell him that he is tempting God when he tests God that way. God will protect us from almost anything but He expects us to take part in protecting ourselves and others. I always say that God pays my bill but God still expects me to get out of bed and earn my paycheck. Testing God is when we adopt a haphazard, devil-may-care attitude and believe God will protect us when we are being stupid. God protects fools and drunks, but even God does not protect us from consequences.

. I just love the way she performs this song. The song reminds me that Jesus gave His life to save my soul. Now I don't care if you are Christian or not or whether you believe in Jesus. I do believe in Jesus. Even non-believers will agree that it isn't every day that somebody loves you enough to literally lay down their life and die for you. I believe that is exactly what Jesus did for me. To make it even more incredible, He gave up His position of being God and the second in command of the entire universe just so He could become a human being and die for me. That moves my heart and fills me with admiration, love, and gratitude. This song by Carrie Underwood expresses all of that.

Blog City image small Prompt: "Isaac Asimov says, “The saddest aspect of life right now is that science gathers knowledge faster than society gathers wisdom.”
Is Asimov right? Is society falling behind? What do you think?"

Asimov is correct in a sense. Science nearly doubles it's knowledge every year. Yet many of those scientists believe there is no God. Stephen Hawking made the statement that science can explain the universe without God. Well Dr. Hawking that is wonderful. The question is "Can science create the universe without God? I think not! Science is a growing field and there are a lot of knowledgable, intelligent people in it who can explain how things function. They can save millions of lives with their predictions. However, they are also immature and silly to believe there is no God.

We Minus You Equals A Lonely Broken Me  (E)
Heartbreak; felt by losing the one person you thought would never leave, but did.
#2143469 by Raven

The poem begs the question. Have you ever had a broken heart? Tell us about it.

IK fell in love with a woman who had moved in next door to us when I was just 19. She was a 36 year old woman of experience and a master manipulator. Within hours she had me totally wrapped around her finger and within weeks I was head over heals for her. Unfortunately she did not feel the same for me. I found a letter she had written to her boyfriend telling him I meant nothing. She said I was a retarded little fool. I wasn't retarded. I was gullible. I hurt so bad I literally felt like my chest would implode. She ripped my heart out and laughed as I lay dying. I never loved anybody that way again. I was married twice and didn't trust either of them completely. She ripped the trust out of me. Never again.

This image made by Sharmelle's Expressions. Why is it important that we show love to others as well as God?

Humans were created to be herd animals. In fact, we were created to be outwardly focused. We were not created to worry about ourselves. I doubt we were even created with an instinct to eat. We were created to be 100% focused on God and others. The fall ruined all of that and made our focus to be on ourselves.

Image for BCOF members to put in their blogs "Prompt: Write about moving."

I'd rather roll back my eyelids and rub my eyeballs with a piece of coarse sand paper than move! The very thought of moving makes my skin crawl. The last two times I moved I left everything behind because it was easier. I despise the whole process. I was glad I made the last move because it changed my life for the better but I still detest moving.

Blog City image small "Prompt: Ray Bradbury advises in Zen in the Art of Writing, “You must stay drunk on writing so reality cannot destroy you.”
If reality is so bad and destructive, which I agree that it can be at times, why are we seeking it under the guise of believability factor in the books we read and the movies we watch? What is your opinion on the matter?"

I no longer try to escape reality. I love reality. I am getting bored with COVID though. The election is also getting old. They're both useless jerks mucking up America.

I use to love Judy Garland. Such a tragic life. She went on to become addicted to narcotics and died penniless I hear.

This image made by Sharmelle's Expressions. St. Augustine said that man was "inwardly focused." How can we, as believers, spur one another toward being outwardly focused?

I preach to the people in Chapel all the time about the importance of service. We show our love for others by placiung their needs and desires ahead of our own. We don't keep track of favors. We just do. One of the guys here has a ministry in which he loans money without interest. Another runs errands at no charge. These are all ministries. My ministry is chaplain.

Every time I think of the term "Somewhere over the rainbow..." I think of Judy Garland. I was in love with her as a teen. Of course I did not realize she would have been old enough to have been my mother. I thought Judy had a magnificent voice. I still like reading and watching the Wizard of Oz.

Poverty does not excuse stealing. On the other hand, how might a disregard for the needs of the poor contribute to theft?

I don't steal. However, I understand the desperation that makes one want to steal. Poverty can be cruel. I stole some junk once to get the formula for a baby but that was years ago. I would never do it again. I know it was wrong. The baby was hungry and I was desperate to feed her. Desperation drives us beyond our limits. Hard hearts and greed push us too.

Prpmpt: "The author asked how could life had been different if we had made different choices?"

If I had not twice made the decision to leave behind everything I owned and move to another city I would not have the success I have now. I would not have a bachelor's degree from a prestigious university and be working on my Master's degree at another university. I would instead be living in a ramshackle house like a hermit watching movies all day long. It would not be a pretty sight. Thank God I moved.

How is your church handling the election infection?"

While we are still practicing social distancing and so forth, my church is meeting at our regular times. I am the chaplain here at the veterans home so I am unable to attend my own church. I would love to get back to church though. Chapel is the next best thing.

Image #1971183 over display limit. -?- Prompt: "Do you ever go by a flower garden, lake or woods to write or do you go to another place you like to write?"

I think my life is often a lampoon. It's ironic that moving from one place to another can make such difference. I lived in an envelope of loneliness and now have all kinds of friends. I encounter new people every day. I get a thrill out of my life online now.

My home away from home is cyberspace. I spend hours every day on the computer. I'm usually doing schoolwork and when I'm not doing that I'm blogging. I was sick the past few days but believe I am feeling better now and can go on with my life. Thank you, Jesus. Now I have to catch up.
