 Treasure Chest  (E)
A short poem about a treasure chest resting at the bottom of the sea.
#2231361 by HollyMerry

which led me to ask: If you found a treasure chest, what would you do with it?

I'd probably buy a few things and donate the rest. I'd keep enough to meet my requirements and the rest would go to the needy.

This image made by Sharmelle's Expressions. In what ways can we prepare ourselves for God's presence and leading this week?

The best way I can prepare myself this week is to get my act together. It's September and every September I go through a brief period where I am lethargic, lose interest in things, and just feel down. It's a type of depression and it will pass. it gets better after a few weeks. Then the doctor forgot to sign my prescription this week which really put the hurting on me. pray for me guys. I know Jesus has this under control. The best way I can prepare is to keep on keeping on.

I really had no childhood friends that I remember. I was a loner.

Blog City image small "Prompt: If any person wants to change the world or anything about it, where should they start and what can they do? Or do you believe we should leave the well-enough alone?"

To change the world I have to change me.

A signature for my blog Prompt: What does it mean to bear one another's burdens?

Bearing one another's burdens means allowing each other to be human. We all have weaknesses. We all make mistakes and we're all fallible. Bearing one another's burdens means we don't find fault. Instead, we offer our assistance and we pray for one another. We are a community.

Created by the talented [Link To User poulynoe] My brother and I have been having a debate about this Covid-19 crap. He feels justified in not wearing his mask. He says Jesus will keep him from getting sick.

I tell him that I do not wear a mask to keep me from getting sick. I wear it to prevent me from being a carrier and spreading it to others.

The question is "Is there any way of changing a hard heart and a hardhead? What can we do to help people see the light?

I have dealt with stubborn, unreasonable people for decades. If there is a magic bullet, I haven't found it. I do have to say though that Jesus dealt with similar people and he is our example. His example was to point out the error of their logic and leave it at that.

The joy of simplicity manifested in glorious moments.

Read the above item.
Go placidly amid the noise and thy haste and remember what peace there may be silence. Use this line in your Blog entry today.

There is a lot of peace in silence. Sometimes I don't think we really long for peace as much as we do the distraction. I know I do. I'd rather escape into "busyness" than be captive with my own thoughts.

Two events in the past twenty years have brought me the most joy. The birth of my son and my sobriety.

St. Francis once said, "Preach the gospel always...if necessary use words."

What do you think he meant?

I believe he meant that we should preach the way I try to preach...by setting a good example. It is a proven fact that people will pay a lot more attention to your actions than they will to your words. I left many of the churches I attended over the years because they talked a good talk but their actions were inconsistent with their words. James said "Show me your faith without works and I will show you my faith by my works."

The planet had life that asked "What would life be like without beautiful dreams?"

What would it be like?

Life without beautiful dreams would be boring and pointless. I have a dream of one day doing community chaplaincy care. I am still in the process of learning how to do all of that, but my classes are coming along splendidly. Last semester I had one A and two A minuses so my GPA was 3.83. It won me an academic honors scholarship from a basically Ivy League school. I was pretty proud of that and even more proud of Jesus since He is the one who got me through it. He gave me the dream and I usually reach whatever I am dreaming of. I can't imagine life without dreams.

Image for BCOF members to put in their blogs The full moon of September is known as the Corn Moon or the Barley Moon by some Native American cultures because it arrives at harvest time for those essential crops. It often also is known as the Harvest Moon, which is the full moon closest to the autumnal equinox..With the autumn equinox occurring toward the end of September, this week’s moon will be the last full moon of summer. Did you know this full moon corresponds to the Chinese Hungry Ghost Festival. The seventh month of the Chinese calendar is the Ghost Month and the fifteenth day of this month (a full moon day) is called Ghost Day, on which ghosts and spirits, including those of deceased ancestors, come out to visit the living.”

Write about your experiences with this moon or something you learned pertaining to this moon in your entry?

I went out one night when I was drinking and joined my dog in howling at the full moon. I don't know what the dog may have gotten out of howling at the moon, but I had a terrific time making the neighbors angry with me. The police finally showed up and I had to stop. What a bummer! The neighbors were laughing about it the next day. One neighbor said he was coming out to join us when the police came. Nobody knows who called the police. The officer said he just happened to be driving by and saw me "acting naturally" so he thought he'd better stick around in case I started growing hairy with fangs. He said he had a silver bullet just for that purpose. Nobody got in trouble.

Blog City image small "Prompt: What was the best party you ever had or attended?"

I've attended some real blow out parties in my time so that is pretty hard to determine. The wildest I ever attended was a sorority party. Things went along good and then one of the girls got on a table and started shedding her clothes. It went downhill from there.

The best parties I have ever attended have been no-booze or drugs allowed New Year's Eve parties. I usually attend one every year at the Salvation Army or a 12 step one. They get exciting too but they're clean fun.

Image #2227275 over display limit. -?- Prompt: Read Psalm 51. What does this psalm say to you?

This is a psalm of David. It is a psalm of repentance. David had just committed sin with Bathsheba. He had committed adultery with her using his position as king to influence her. Then to make matters worse he'd had her husband killed in an attempt to cover it up. Now he has been made known and he is repenting. This psalm tells me we serve a loving, merciful, and forgiving God. If we repent and confess He forgives our sin.

there was a line "Who am I?"

So tell us. Who are you?

I am a mystery. I am a man with two legal names. On the one hand I was born Marvin. I adopted the name Chris and made it my legal synonym. I am first of all a child of God. Beyond that nothing matters anyway.

Image #1997652 over display limit. -?- "Prompt: Use these words in your blog entry: intuition, faculty, objective, subjective, disappearing, coffee, birthday."

I don't feel great today. My intuition is to go back to bed. As part of the faculty at my facility and as a student online I can't do so. I have things to get done. I am objective though. I know my limits and if I get sick I will lay down. The subjective side of me believes it is just allergies and sugar anyway. I have diabetes but I get low easily. I've eaten some food. Hopefully the symptoms will be disappearing soon. I want some coffee. A Starbucks drink, maybe their mocha or cinnamon bun frappucino would do the trick. It isn't my birthday but it's WDC"s. I'll drink one for them.

Image #1971183 over display limit. -?- "Prompt: Tommy Orange says in There There, “Numbers are consistent. You can count on them.”
What do you think of number 20, the now-age of WdC?"

I believe 2020 has been a terrible year and it turned us all against the number 20. On the other hand it is WDC's birthday. Image #2228763 over display limit. -?- Happy Birthday WDC!
