Morning is my favorite time of day.......
#2083338 by Annie

"Morning is my favorite time of day......."

What is your favorite part of the day and why?

My favorite time of day is just about anytime. In the morning I am rushing about getting things ready for the day. I usually do my blog in the morning and I love doing my blog. I answer at least four blogs and wish there were more daily blogs. I love answering them. I also say my prayers in the morning, at least a short one and do my daily devotionals. Part of my devotion is answering the prompt for one of the blogs. I wanted to start a Bible study on here because I feel I am Chaplain to WDC as well as my other chaplain duties. If any of you need a chaplain's services hit me up. You do not have to be a Christian to use a chaplain. Chaplains serve people of all faiths and non-faiths. We serve everybody.

As my day continues I usually do work. Often it is schoolwork, sometimes volunteer work and sometimes paid. I like to stay busy. Then in the evening I talk to friends and clients. The go to bed early.

Created by the talented [Link To User poulynoe] Prompt: "How do we develop spiritual discipline?"

I spent a whole semester learning about this very subject so spiritual discipline is a little deeper than you may believe. Whether I can define it and describe it in the little bit of time I have is hard. However, spiritual discipline refers basically to developing good spiritual habits. The beginning is prayer. It is hard for us to get into a habit of praying because we are so distracted. There is always something on our minds, even if it's last night's dinner reminding us that it disagreed with us. The second discipline is meditation. This is listening for God and there are different ways of doing it. I am not going to elaborate here. The third discipline is Bible study. You decide how much you are going to read. I have set out to read every English translation I can get at least once. Currently, I am reading the New Living Translation on my android device. Next, I plan to read the New Revised Standard Version. I have read all the New Testament and prophets on my android. I am finishing the Law and then I will tackle Joshua through Ezra.

I don't know if I am going to bother with Halloween. I'm undecided.

I guess Memory Lane looks different to each of us. To me, Memory Lane is a blonde woman I fell in love with years ago and can never love again. I guess part of me will always love her.

Tell us about a memorable birthday.

I never thought I would live to see thirty. On my thirtieth birthday my wife and I had the party of a lifetime. It was summer for I was born in June. We had a barbecue and invited anyone who wanted to come. I think my wife even invited strangers. She had been so worried I would die because I expected to do so.

Proverbs: 3:5-6

5) Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6) In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths.

What do these verses mean to you?

Dianne

To me they mean that we are to walk God's path and not our own. God provides us a luxury ride on a super highway. Instead we out on a ATV bouncing over rock cliffs thinking we're having fun.

I prefer a May or June sunset. I don't like winter. Summer is always pretty and vibrant.

Blog City image small Prompt: In an interview, Norwegian author Karl Ove Knausgaard, who wrote the six-volume autobiographical novel My Struggle and many others, said, “I don’t really pay much attention to the world. I’m not very present. I’m detached from almost everything. I’m very occupied with myself and my own mind. I’m not in connection with the world—but in writing, I can be.”
What do you think? If writers are attached to writing, how can they write if they are detached from the world?

I am always a little detached from the world. I don't know why. I have to practice active listening to be more observant.

The many meanings of giving a hug

gave me "The many meanings of giving a hug"

Why do we all like hugs?

I think we all like hugs because we are herd animals. Of course, there are some people who have conditions such as fibromyalgia for whom a hug can be painful. For the most part though people like hugs. I have missed hugging people these past few months due to the pandemic. It will pass through and then we can have hugs.

A signature for my blog Hello Everyone,

Here are the verses for Monday, September 28th, 2020.

Psalm 37: 39-40
39) But the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord: he is their strength in the time of trouble.

40) And the Lord shall help them and deliver them from the wicked, and save them because they trust in Him.

In our present time of trouble, our strength is in the Lord, and He will deliver us. How does knowing this help you face the troubles we have now?

I hope you all have a wonderful week. Tell someone about Jesus this week.

Jesus is my strength and support every day. I give Jesus credit for everything I get during the day. Each breath I take is another blessing from God and I give Jesus the credit for that. He paid the price for my sin and bought me with His blood. I am so pleased to be His servant. I know looking back on my life that He has guided my life to make me into what He wants me to be. He has orchestated my entire life to bring me to where I am.

Use this line in your Blog entry today:

He is the American soldier and will forever stand
For the red, white and blue,
The American flag of his homeland.

In my own career as a soldier, I learned to have a profound respect for the soldiers of any country. After all, no matter what their political views, at least they have the guts to stand up and fight for their country and if necessary defend their country with their very lives. I deeply respect the courage and I know the cost of freedom. I am the chaplain of the West Virginia Veterans Home and I minister to veterans all the time who have served and fought for the freedoms we hold dear. In fact, I designed a PowerPoint presentation for my Intro to Chaplaincy class that profiles the West Virginia Veterans Home. I wish there was some way to attach it to this blog. If anybody wishes to see it through just shoot me an email and I will email it to you.

This image made by Sharmelle's Expressions. Prompt: "Jesus said "No one, after lighting a lamp puts it in a cellar, but on a lampstand so that those who enter may have light." Luke 11: 33 NRSV

What do you suppose Jesus meant?"

What Jesus meant is that we are not to become believers and then just sit on our laurels afterward. We are to spread the good news of our salvation to others. We don't necessarily have to do that by pushing our beliefs down people's throats either. We can spread the gospel by living like Jesus lived and allowing people to witness the change in our demeanor and our behaviors. If one becomes a Christian and it does not change them profoundly then one has to wonder if they really were saved? Salvation involves more than simply believing. It involves faith that results in repentance. The thief quits stealing and starts working for an honest living. He might even become extremely generous and begin giving away more than he stole. The gossip quits gossiping and becomes involved in righting the wrongs they gossiped about through affirmative action. The person's entire demeanor changes 180% and they begin doing the exact opposite of what they did before. Where they were hateful they become very loving. Where they were lazy they become productive. Where there was darkness there is light. The change in them is visible and they attract people with their actions. People question "What came over this person? Why do they do these things?"

When people ask me why I serve others the way I do I gladly tell them. This is my preaching. I do not have to boast about being saved. I let people see that I am "different" by my actions and attitudes. This often makes them curious and they ask me why I am so kind. When they do I tell them and often lead them to Christ.

Image for BCOF members to put in their blogs "Prompt: Write about a good day that you've had recently."

I had an excellent day just yesterday in fact. I am the chaplain at the West Virginia Veterans Home in Barboursville WV. I designed a PowerPoint presentation about chaplaincy at the WVVH and shared it with my supervisor yesterday. he loved the presentation and told me that the vision I have for the chaplaincy program is in line with the vision the administration has for the chaplaincy. We discussed a few of the issues I see with the chaplaincy and ironed out a plan to address those issues. All in all, it was a very productive meeting and I look forward to implementing the ideas we came up with. yes, it was indeed an excellent day. The night before it was also a good day. As most people know if they know me, I am a student at Regent University in the Master of Divinity program. Two of the requirements for graduation are that I complete an internship and a one-year residency at a Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) certified training site. I was told that there are only 300 such sites in the entire country and those are located in 30 cities across the country. The chances were that I would be forced to move to complete my degree. I usually can't afford to go out to lunch, yet again up and move. Moving would have meant coming up with a security deposit on an apartment and hundreds of other costs that I could never afford. It would have been next to impossible for me to have done so and thus next to impossible to complete my degree. I checked into the locations of the CPE training site and it turns out that two of those sites are right here in West Virginia. One is at Ruby Memorial Hospital AKA WVU Medical Center. The other is at St. Mary's Medical Center, which is now part of Marshall University Medical Center. I graduated from Marshall University last year. prior to graduating, I rode public transportation to class every day. One of the designated stops for the bus is St. Mary's Medical Center, the CPE site that offers the residency I need! Man, I was so excited to find that out that I did not even sleep that night! God moved me here to the WVVH two years ago, knowing that we were practically a stone's throw from a CPE certified training site, which is about as rare as a royal flush. God knew I would need to be close to such a site and He arranged for me to be located perfectly to meet that need! I do not believe in coincidences!

Blog City image smallPrompt: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/i-feel-sorry-for-americans-a-baffled-world-...

“I feel sorry for Americans,” said U Myint Oo, a member of parliament in Myanmar. “But we can’t help the U.S. because we are a very small country.”

The same sentiment prevails in Canada, one of the most developed countries. Two out of three Canadians live within about 60 miles of the American border.

“Personally, it’s like watching the decline of the Roman Empire,” said Mike Bradley, the mayor of Sarnia, an industrial city on the border with Michigan, where locals used to venture for lunch.: New York Times

While I seldom watch television and if I did I certainly would not waste my time watching the news, I have an opinion on this topic. Let me begin by saying the reason I do not watch the news is because they do not report the news. They give their opinion and try to persuade me to think what they think. I could not care any less about what some talking head on television thinks. If I watch the news I want to hear facts, not opinions. I remember the days of Walter Kronkite and objective reporting. I am like Sergeant Joe Friday on the television series "Dragnet". All I want are the facts. I can decide for myself what to do with those facts.

Now then let me say that I agree with the politician in Myanmar. I feel sorry for America as well. The politicians are passing some of the most ungodly laws that the world has ever seen. I could personally not care less about what people do with their personal affairs. It is none of my business. However, I am a Christian. As a Christian, I am obligated to make God's opinion of my opinion. God says that many of the things we now accept as politically correct and legal are sinful and ungodly. Homosexual marriage is now accepted practice in America. God says that homosexuality is sin. Personally I don't care if Adam marries Steve as long as they leave me out of it. God does care though. Some will say "The Bible is an ancient book so what it says is not relevant today."

That ancient book answers that retort. It says "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever", hebrews 13:8.

What God wrote two thousand years ag is just as relevant today as when it was written. The US passed Roe V Wade and now allows abortion up to birth in many states. God's word says that God knew us before we were conceived in the womb. Therefore the taking of innocent life, whether we consider it live or not, is murder. We may legalize all these things but just because we say they are justified does not mean that God agrees. Whether a person believes God is real or not does not make Him any less real. There will be consequences for our actions. The moral decline in America and the ungodly laws we pass will lead to our destruction.

Do you believe godliness leads to financial gain? Why or why not?

I believe it can if God knows it is not going t overwhelm your ego. He never gives us more than we can handle.

I guess there is a method to my madness, however. I completed it and am now doing my blog. I am not under contract with anybody but myself when it comes to blogging. I think some of the stress I put myself under should be a criminal act but it's okay. I have thicker bark than most people because I live to be under the gun. There is no shortage of that today! "Make the most of each moment....before it's gone".

How do you make the most of each moment?

I won''t say that I make the most of each and every moment. Some moments I slip and waste. For the most part though I try to do something positive with my life. So much of my life has been wasted due to the years I was addicted to drugs and living very irresponsibly. I had been told all of my life that I was disabled and would never be able to work and I believed those lies. I never tried. Now I am playing catch up on my life. God used all my mistakes to bless me with Bible training so I have skills and education. I also have a ton of debt. Don't we all?

Image #2226644 over display limit. -?- Prompt: "How do we try to turn Almighty God into a domesticated idol we can boss around?"

I think we all try to do that to some extent. We make excuses for our sin and think "Well God is a forgiving God. He'll let me get away with it this one time."

Or we think God is a genie that we pull down off the shelf for emergencies and ignore the rest of the time. There are many gods in our world today. Money is often a god. Power and prestige are often gods. We idolize ourselves and become little gods.

Only God is God and He expects obedience all the time.

I create something new every day. Yesterday I created two PowerPoint presentations and found a way to use my tablet to write my term papers or whatever they are called at the graduate level. It is not my thesis quite yet but they are papers that require Turabian format. Turabian requires notes and I had to play with my tablet to find out how to do them. I also found a flash drive on Amazon that will allow me to copy stuff on my tablet and then use it on my laptop. It has a port to insert into the tablet and a USB for the computer. Now I can use my tablet to work and won't be required to carry my laptop around everywhere. In fact, this entire entry has been done on my tablet!

Paul is encouraging the church at Corinth (and us) to be strong in our faith. We are at war and it takes courage to fight a war. The enemy prowls around like a lion seeking somebody to devour. We must be prepared to use the weapons God has given us: the sword of the Spirit, the helmet of salvation, the belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, gospel of peace, and the fruits of the Spirit which are love to combat the enemy.

Why should we never love a poet?

I don't know that we should never love a poet. I do know we should never love a poet if we expect them to become rich and famous as a result of their poetry. Chances are they will never publish and if they do poetry doesn't sell. They may sell a few books to friends but that will be it.

Image #2225754 over display limit. -?- Prompt: Hi,

I am Dianne aka Lazy Writer.

I will be sending prompts for Mondays and Tuesdays for a little while. I use the King James Version of the Bible. In the back of my Bible, there is a list of words like 'courage' and it lists all the verses in the Bible that deal with that subject. I chose 'courage' because I think we could all use a little reminder of the promise of courage that God gives us.

2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and love, and of a sound mind.

Tell us what this verse means to you.

This verse means I have nothing to fear from the craziness of the world. The worst thing the world can do to me is only temporary. They can kill me but they cannot kill my soul which belongs to God. Anything the world throws my way is fleeting and temporary at best. God is bigger than anything the world has to offer. If it happens to me it is because God allows it to happen. If God allows it to happen He gives me the strength to endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13 says "No testing has overtaken you that is not common to everyone. God is faithful, and He will not let you be tested beyond your strength, but with the testing He will also provide a way out so that you will be able to endure it."

Image #1997652 over display limit. -?- "Prompt: “It isn't possible to love and part. You will wish that it was. You can transmute love, ignore it, muddle it, but you can never pull it out of you. I know by experience that the poets are right: love is eternal.” ― E.M. Forster, A Room with a View
Is love eternal?"

Love was always eternal for God is love. If God is the source of love and God is eternal, then it stands to reason to assume that love is also eternal. The problem with humans is that we're human. We're finite creatures who think in finite terms.

Karen Kingsbury, Finding Home

What do you think of autumn, and why is it difficult to let go of things or people we become used to, unlike the leaves?"

I love autumn. If it weren't for the way autumn ends it would be my favorite season. I like to see everything green, although the heat is getting harder and harder to tolerate as years go by. As to letting go, I think that it is hard to let go because we are herd animals.

I'm not a person, I'm just a ping in queue. Use this line in your Blog entry today."

Sometimes I feel like all I am to some people is a number. I guess that would make me a ping in some machine. However, we are all much more than that. We are living, breathing human beings. I am not just a ping in a machine. I am Chris Breva, author AKA Marvin Schrebe.

Image #2225754 over display limit. -?- Prompt: "I volunteered yesterday at the Salvation Army. We had a huge rummage sale to raised funds for world missions. Why are world missions important?"

World missions are important because Jesus told us to preach the gospel in all the world. Matt. 28:19-20. Mark 16:15-16, and Acts 1:8.

It is also important because it will usher in the return of Christ. When the very last person will ever receive the gospel receives it I believe Jesus will return. Peter tells us that God is long on patience. He is waiting until the whole world has heard and had a chance to respond to the gospel before he returns.

Let that or another Ruth Bader Ginsburg inspire your blog entry today."

This will likely get me a lot of hate mail but I did not like Ruth Gader Ginsberg. She voted in too many laws that went contrary to God's word and I prefer not to dignify that.

Discuss this quote in your blog today."

I don't know that I agree with that. Regret is hard to temper no matter causes it.
