Here are words I like to write All day long 'til it is night. Words go up and words go down When complete approve the sound. If you complete my little rhyme, Things will come your way in time. |
Thursday October 5, 2023 6:30 PM Prompt: "We didn't realize we were making memories. We were just having fun." Winnie The Pooh Write about this in your Blog entry today. I was visiting my mom and dad for a weekend without my husband and our two children. They lived 300 miles from me so it would be a Friday night to Sunday afternoon get-away. I enjoyed a few days off from working and parenting. On one visit I was talking about how busy I was. I explained going to a complex of several baseball fields in town where the children would compete in Little League for my son and softball for my daughter. I would select a spot midway between two fields to watch both children one on each field. It was like watching a tennis match where your head moves from side to side. I babbled on about taking them to practices, and keeping up with school functions, all while working full-time When I finally stopped talking, my dad looked at me with a smile. He said, someday these days filled with activity will be the days you look back on as the good old days. He was correct. I cherish the times we were playing ball in the street, having fun until we had to go in when the street lights came on. I did not know it then, but that is one of my fondest memories. |
Thursday October 5, 2023 5:20 PM Got a late start today. I went right to my goals before I moved on to seeking out and welcoming new members. I remember how neat it was for me to sign in and see I had welcome notes when I was new. I have become more aware of contacting newbies since joining the Army Angels group. Regarding groups, in retrospect, I would have taken it slower sticking to one or two groups. It is hard to give complete attention to all of them. I found great writing by a newbie Blimprider . His name is Jack. He set up his account for the main purpose of reading and reviewing. He says, "You're welcome to read all this, but I'm here primarily to read your wonderful stories. Good ones get reviews; great ones get rewards, so please, I implore you, thrill me!" His handle is Thrillseeker. You may want to check him out. That is all. tracker |
Wednesday October 4, 2023 8:50 PM I made it to 10 blogs yesterday and 2 today. Each is as individual as the next. It was fun. I leave you with Jack's mug shots from today. ** Image ID #2305849 Unavailable ** Never far while I am on WDC. ** Image ID #2305848 Unavailable ** Thinking he will get a bite of my pizza...nope. |
Tuesday October 3, 2023 11:20 AM Do you ever do something, later see it is not done, and wonder if you imagined yourself doing it? I wrote an entry at 10ish this morning. It is not here. Then I remembered I wanted to share something in my notebook, then never came back and saved the entry. What I wrote was I am going blog hopping today. It is just like bar hopping without the alcohol. That and a couple of reviews will be my day here. tracker |
October 2, 2023 Monday 8:40 PM Again working toward the 9 PM deadline to have this record for today. When the time changes here in October there will only be 2 hours behind the WdC clocks. So much to do about spookiness. All around things are hopping with activity. Today some cartons of my things stored since 2007 were brought to me. My collection of music boxes and other keepsakes. A few of my pieces of Princess House crystal. I simply love the pattern. Among the mementos was a small frame 3"x5". It is a one frame cartoon cut from a newspaper long ago. My mom's college degree is in history. On family trips, not one historic monument escaped us stopping to read it and think about the historic land we were standing on or viewing. The cartoon is a picture of a man standing by an historical marker that reads: Here stands the historical marker commemorating the first hysterical marker. The hysterical is intended to be the joke. I had given my mom the cartoon since she was so emphatic about stopping for these markers on the two road/camping trips we took from the east to west coasts. She had it framed and put on her desk. tracker-boo! |
Sunday October 1. 2023 12:30 PM I have a couple of projects going. One is mentoring Newbees. The one I am working with got their first review. They told me. "It was very negative to say the least." Discouragement is not the goal of reviewing. One of the people I invited to WDC had the same thing happen and left the site. That person told me they didn't see the point if you were just going to get bad reviews. I need to get more information before moving further with that. I suspect it may not be what the review said, but how it was said. I am going to be the review queen of the October Monster Mash. That is all for today. tracker |
Saturday September 30, 2023 10:30 AM I was able to get my Kudos to you MB delivered just now. The author I suspect has no idea the impression she made on my WDC experience. Go to "Invalid Entry" and read all about it! Today is catch-up day. I hope to write 2 reviews, complete at least one contest, and sum up my month in my Habit Heroes group. Contest entries are due by 11:59 PM tonight:
They could use a few more entries today if you are looking for something to do! tracker |
Friday September 29, 2023 1:00 PM I have more than made up for the lack of production yesterday. Late last night, after doing my school homework, an idea for a story eased its way in. Wow! I wonder if this is the one I will write for NaNoWriMo? That would be excellent, and timely too. I am doing the contest prep class that starts Monday. I understand there will be exercises to assist getting ready for everything that goes into writing your story. This is my first time so I guess I won't really know what I got myself into until next week. I have another author who will receive the Kudos to You recognition today. The reveal will be announced. I suspect this person has no idea what they did to get Kudos. tracker This entry is brought to you by the upcoming brilliant changing colors of the trees like this one near Grants Pass, Oregon. ** Image ID #2305405 Unavailable ** } |
Thursday September 28, 2023 5:25 PM A day of procrastination for sure! I will watch eyestarCharityMarie open her housewarming gifts on her FB page at 6pm Pacific time. I will put off anything else of note until tomorrow. |
Wednesday September 27, 2023 4:20 PM Prompt: If you had to give away a million dollars, how would you go about it? It would be an amazing task to give away a million dollars. Here is what I will do. I will start by making a list of names, businesses, and charities I want to benefit. I obtain the names by brainstorming. I might include a trusted person to help give me ideas. Family and friends are first in line. I am selective in that some of my relatives are set, others are not. Frankly, the majority are set and there are only a few who need help. Next, I will put dollar amounts next to each on the list. For example, the only one in my family who is on the list is my daughter. Since there would be a total of thirty-one family members, I am taking the minimum amount I set of one thousand dollars and multiplying it by thirty-one family members. I am not sure if this is the right amount but it is just the first cut. I proceed line by line to assign a dollar amount to each person or group, staying within the maximum amount I have. I have favorite charities. I have a hang-up about giving to charities. It goes back thirty years when my company had a donation drive for United Way. They divided the money into a variety of local organizations. You could designate the one you wanted all your donation money to go to if you desired. I was in a meeting when the director conducting the meeting saw her assistant at the door. She motioned her in. The assistant said loudly for all to hear, we have ninety percent participation. The director had a goal for participants to attain for her and our company to receive recognition. I guess it is a good thing for the company, but it bothered me. It was charity, not a competition. The conflict came when we, as management, were told to strongly encourage our employees to give. Some of my employees could not afford to bring lunch and sipped on a soda, tea, or coffee and crackers during their lunch break. I was not going to strongly suggest they donate money I know they did not have. If they wanted to give, that would be great. I was warned I had better donate myself or there would be consequences. What? Donating or not donating would affect my job? That threat made me not want to contribute at all. I could donate to smaller businesses or ones not on their list. I did not feel you should be told what to do. Putting that aside, my gifting in this scenario will be done one on one. I will go directly to those I want to help. I could give it anonymously, but I fear there would be no accountability on their part. I will follow up with them after some time has passed to see how the funds were further disbursed. I am first on my list. I am taking ten percent off the top or one hundred thousand dollars. Personal financial advisers, like widely respected advisor Suze Orman, tell you to pay yourself first. The possible list of recipients is huge. The selection process is arduous but, in the end, I will be satisfied with the way I distributed the one million dollars. |
